Emrakul is referred to as female as a result of the false deitification given to her by the various races. (See Shrine of the Forsaken Gods.) As far as the Eldrazi titan itself, there is no knowledge of what gender means to them if anything.

I understand that. But I doubt that all of the people of Innistrad effected by her influence know to refer to Emrakul as a she when that's what was given by the people of Zendikar. Unless Nahiri has been -very- busy talking her up all over the plane, though I don't think that would explain why Bruna/Gisela would refer to Emrakul with feminine pronouns too. I feel like, if they didn't know to use feminine pronouns, they would have used 'it' or 'he.'

I think we've got one of those situations of "some call me Tim?". Emrakul has been called female by everyone on Zendikar because of the worship of her alter ego, though I'm sure she has no idea what gender is in the same way we don't know what the titans identify themselves as, she has still absorbed that knowledge that all lesser beings identify Emrakul as female. So emrakul comes to innistrad and drives everyone mad but then they also see this other bit of knowledge that she is identified as female.

The previous leader/deity figure on Innistrad was Avacyn, so it's also entirely possible that they're just mashing the two figures together.

Hmmm so The Gatewatch went full Princess Celestia on Emrakul that's pretty neat, though I do wonder why they didn't just kill Emrakul like they did with the other two titans. I now really look forward to reading the stories leading up to this card, thanks for sharing.

They were able to kill Ula/Kozi as a result of Nissa and Zendikar's leylines - no idea if the same would be possible on Innistrad.

Also, it's entirely possible Jace is starting to understand Ugin's POV.

They needed a lot of preparation to kill the other titans. They had to pull them into the world completely, but more importantly, Nissa used her bond with Zendikar specifically to gather about a million mana at once. They could not have done it without that factor.
