"Naked police detective found."

I think the 'naked' is very important.

I've started a western-themed Pathfinder game, set in the frozen north of Golarion. It's really weird, and really fun. Going into much detail as to double-crossing and such would be en exercise in long run-on sentences, so I'll summarise this as much as possible.

There are two hobgoblins bounty hunters who now hate the party's guts after they stole not only their fancy dusters but also their bounty. One of the PCs is a catfolk ninja. He's the one who took their bounty. He did it by beheading the dude in front of the town's Sheriff. This was after a very confusing, very violent brawl in the confines of a chintzy Osirion-themed (think Ancient Egyptian) boat casino. One of the PCs is a sylph alchemist who came to the Frontier as what basically amounts to a tourist. Right up until the beheading, he thought the fight was actually an elaborate play-act-thing. Then he got a serious reality-check and had to be patted on the back by the Sheriff and told "Welcome to the Frontier." And now the Sheriff and his deputies have rounded up a posse to go after a gang, and some of the party have had to have a stiff drink.

Later, there will be trains.

It's really quite a lot of fun.

We're playing a Pathfinder's campaign using the race creator, and were allotted 11 race points to start off with. One of our players min-maxed to take monstrous attributes including fast healing and ridiculous natural con. The DM forgot to tell him he couldn't take those feats, or it was forgotten about or something, so he's been trying to just kill off that one character the past couple of sessions.
I, on the other hand, made a bard based on the goblin king from Labyrinth, making him a court bard so that he'd have negative effects on the enemy rather than benefiting his friends.Long story short, my bard was useless. Completely and totally useless. So he may have intentionally raced forward to assist his party member just as a massive ice spell killed them both.
My new character is a plant, specifically a tree-person, and from that alone gets low-light vision and immunity to mind-altering effects as well as all types of poison. Our DM gave us an additional 11 race points for the cost of a level, so I took it and also gave him enlarge person as an at-will ability and made him large sized to begin with, as well as fast healing (or growing back lost bits in his case.)

I've recently started GMing a Fate Core game in a sort of D&D esque setting that is currently in it's industrial revolution. The original seed was Dishonored, but it grew during game creation. Also, all the characters in the world are antropomorphic animals (think Mouse Guard).

So it started pretty simply. Some thugs were destroying things at a little plaza during the harvest festival. Things escalated and they killed the thugs, leaving one alive to be interogated.

They found out the thugs were hired by a certain Zera, a local gangleader. They split up to do some research and found out he was getting weapons from a local factory and has been harassing more people in the area.

It ended with the local cops arresting them. They had asked around at the local office about the dead lieutenant in charge there. Totally not what I was expecting, but I am curious to see how they will get out of that.

Playing in a Scion game, the 5 players 1 Norse (child of Odin) 1 Irish (Me, Child of Nuada) and 2 Greek (1 child of Hades and a Child of Zeus) and finally the 1 Hindu (Child of Kali). Set in San Francisco a metropolitan city filled with all different supernaturals from myth and legends

We got in a bar fight with local bikers who turned out to be Troll blood addicts who were kidnapping local trolls and draining them dry to make a drug we were calling super snuff.

Got as a group slapped down by the local owner of a coffee shop that turned out to be the Scion of the Chinese god Wu Kong apparently we didn't tip his waitress enough, turns out a group of Kappa trickster spirits had pretended to be us and messed up his shop and staff. We all had a laugh over broken bones and destroyed motor bike (The Owner is basically magical Jet Lee)

And finally found the meta plot (we think) were a local doctor was doing miracles and came out saying he was a worshiper of a long dead religion which gave him his powers (Titans maybe a foot)

On sunday, in our first Dark Heresy session since our Skype-based campaign reached it's 4th birthday, as GM I nearly killed two PCs in a hail of hellgun cross-fire. Man that Pen 7 is deadly.

Scion game shenanigans continue: This week we meet Titan worshiping goblins, they were hiding in the sewer, they are worshipers of the Titan of order the only good guy Titan.

We had to stop a civil war since they were arguing over the which political ideology to back, half the tribe wanted Democracy while the other side were backing a strange form of Theocracy.

It ended in a weird rap battle of the scions of their choice, which turned out to be me the Child of Nuada lawyer vs the child of Kali physiotherapist. Sadly the child of Kali won due to being a party time singing teacher.

So the goblins now have Theocracy, we think this is good since the gods have yet to smite us.

Game was Cyberpunk. The setting was a small upstart Corp was wanting to aquire a scientist from another local Corp and hired the players to get the scientist and his daughter. The group decided to make it look like a kidnapping and would do it as they were going to work and school, all went well for the kidnapping of the father but when they were getting the daughter the fun began. Here is what happened. The pc'S block the street in front of and behind the car with his daughter inside and her 1 bodyguard and driver, her father is in the rear car so she will not be scared. They have the guard and driver knocked out but alive in the vehicle and their 2 vehicles are 5 to 10 feet in front of and behind the car.
Player A... ok guys let's make this look like a gang hit ok?
Others... Sure so the Corp will not come after us.
Player A... I take a grenade and toss it into the car.
DM (ME)... Are you sure?
Player A... yes
DM... Looking around the table... Are you SURE????
Player A... Yes I am sure (other players agree)
Me... (looking up damage for exploding vehicle)... What is the grenade damage and area of effect?
Player A... gives damage and range.
Me... roll your damage and tell me what you get... 35 to 40 points.
then I roll for the vehicle explosion and damage adding another 45 to 50 points to the damage he rolled.

needless to say it was the first time I had a group kill themselves as a party even after I gave them 2 chances not to do it.

The scion issues continue:

This time the scion party got involved with the local crime families, the mafia (who in truth turned out to be an extended family of Shadow creatures related to the fair folk of Ireland)

The issue was the Child of Zeus (hedge fund party boy, think male Paris Hilton) has a house boat down at the docks that went missing, we started hunting it down with the help of the local Selkies (People that turn into Seals).

We came across the boat out in the harbor, next to what looked to mortals like a Cargo ship but to supernatural people looked like a classic ghost ship. It turns out the ghost ship was the Mafias biggest source for smuggling illegal drugs into the country.

We get on the house boat to find no one but a large stack of very dangerous looking guns and sadly no keys, we decided to sneak onto the ship to find the keys, only to walk straight into a stand off between the Mafia shadows and a large pack of Wendigo, who were there for the drugs.

To say it was dicey was an understatement, we learned very quickly that even being divine beings means jack and all when an AK-47 is leveled at your chest, thankfully I had the health powers to heal people.

We been left on a cliff hanger as the wendigo are on the top deck the Mafia are under deck and we have barricaded ourselves into the captains office...With the Captain who is not a shadow but a full blown FAE monster king of an Unseelie court.

We are badly wounded, out of ammo but still have our magic weapons, he has a sword made of pain and a shield of suffering but is apparently oepn to make a deal.

Well, the Pathfinders game is a mess.
Our party consists of my tree-man, a tiny dragon-thing (super cobalt, basically) a healer, and an inquisitor with high leadership playing as a pimp (his followers are his hoes, his special follower is his bottom bitch).
There are a couple issues. First, the inquisitor never had sufficient reason to care about the party, and we don't have sufficient reason to care about what he's doing, so he's wandered off alone and has been put under a "quest" spell by the main antagonist of the game to basically screw us. The rest of the party is entirely unaware of it.
Second, our healer was of incredibly low intelligence (from being pulled between dimensions...somehow) but as now put enough in intelligence to be average, allowing him to remember his pre-dimension hopping self. Who is evil. So he's no longer really helping the party.
So essentially we have Groot and a tiny dragon thing as the only ones slightly following the campaign story.

Sounds like the group needs to sit down and have a talk about what each of you wants out of the game, and if that's at all compatible even if you were to restart from scratch (I've seen groups do that before, when the players just lost the plot too much). The way it sounds, continuing the campaign in the current form won't make anyone happy.

Oh, we're enjoying our twisted little mess, there's just the fact that its a mess. Plus it's more of a side-campaign because the DM to the other campaign (currently playing the pimp) got burnt out constantly leading games.

We also made an interesting discovery last night. See, the big bad (so far) was a level 20 beguiler who's skills were entirely based on mind-altering spells. He was able to kill our superpowered NPC in no time, then pointed at my character and tried stunning him.

Funny thing about mind-altering spells: they don't work on golems or plant creatures. At all. And I am a tree-man. A large-sized tree man with enlarge self as an at-will spell-like ability and the mythic feat titan's strike, which means I roll hits as though I'm a size category larger than I actual am.

During on off-session that occurred only because a few of the group were bored and in Google Hangouts, one of the party members managed to unleash Yog-Sothoth and destroy the entire universe.

We weren't even playing Call of Cthulu.

Actually, one of the party members would briefly survive due to the effects of his several previous deaths in the campaign, just long enough to ascend to divinity between the deaths of all the current gods, and his own death to Yog-Sothoth.

My stint as GM for my Dark Heresy group finally came to an end today with the grand finale of the "big-baddie"-turned-ally (an Inquisitor under cover) utilising experimental Dark Age of Technology time travel tech to help them escape a very deadly assault on their location by "evil" Adepts Mechanicus. Thus jumping the survivors six and ten years into the future, with the remaining two survivors (including the Inquisitor) yet to "arrive".

Fun and games, although sadly coupled with the loss of a recent recruit due to new work commitments. So if anyone's interested in a Skype & Roll20 based campaign of Dark Heresy 1st Edition with a trio of existing players and 4 years of running - get in touch, we currently Skype on Sundays at 1pm GMT/UTC every week for approx. 2-3 hours.

We just started a Warcraft RPG game and the party is a Night Elf Runemaster (Monk-like class) named Nightstalker, a Gnome Tinkerer named Wrench'em Gnutz, and an undead Necromancer named Baron Monforte, with his skeleton servant Reginald. Wrench'em and Monforte are both insane, and Wrench'em's Tea-kettle cannon (That's his main weapon) malfunctioned and killed both of them in the first fight.

Warcraft is an interesting RPG system.

I was turned into a chew toy.

We got lost in the lost woods searching for a single wolf.

And we killed a boss so quick the dice were not done rolling before it corpse was cold.

And I Bifurcated a large dog with my bare hands in 8/10 of a second.

My D&D character died. This was a tragedy for our group as she was one who really leapt to life. So if I may, here is a small retrospective on Stumbleduck.

Our D&D group gets very invested in characters and stories but does not necessarily take the whole process very seriously. So with many of us being Magic players, the Tiefling in our party ended up being named Tibalt. This precedent being set, I observed that Nissa was one of the suggested names for a female gnome. The DM allowed it on the condition that he could choose my character's nickname.

And so Stumbleduck was born.

Stumbleduck was confident that she was smarter than anyone else in the mercenary group (technically correct) and that this meant she was the leader and purveyor of all knowledge (not correct). A frequent cry around the table was "the monster is resistant to that kind of damage, Stumbleduck" because she would jump to conclusions rather than think for a moment to fact-check. It didn't help that the dice didn't like her much. The first fight we ever did Stunbleduck failed a saving throw, fell prone, and the fight was over by the time she did anything.

Then came the dragon.

For once, Stumbleduck actually knew a lot about the target and was prepared to use that information accordingly. Unfortunately, the dice were still not cooperative. Every spell failed. The first roll I actually made all night was to deal lethal damage to the dragon.

So naturally Stumbleduck crowed. "I killed the dragon!"

No one was thrilled by this claim because frankly every other party member had objectively contributed more than Stumbleduck. Most annoyed was the aforementioned Tiefling who had been preparing to take the credit himself for having done the bulk of the damage.

More than that, Tibalt had a book that Stumbleduck was not allowed to read. What before could have been minor envy was now, after all this, an obsession. So they had words. And some more words. Then, in a fit of alcoholic desperation, the words ceased.

The DM reminded us that Tieflings and Gnomes are of rather different stature. By then the whole party agreed that mere physiology could not stand between them.

It was a beautiful romance. Stumbleduck conceded that it was technically possible that Tibalt's plan was better than hers. Tibalt talked a guard out of arresting her ("you don't understand how obnoxious she is, you don't deserve that"). The Druid agreed to carry her out of town in a sack.

Finally, Stumbleduck was proven valuable in some fashion when a critical hit had her wipe out a whole group of enemies in one spell. She was back to her old ways in no time, though, when a failed wisdom save had her convinced that the end of the dungeon contained the secrets of the universe. She confidently told Tibalt that she didn't need his book anymore and that they were over. He was confused why she was telling him this when there was a monster to fight.

The dice came back to haunt her terribly, however. She failed three constitution saving throws in a row and took a phenomenal amount of poison damage and could not be saved.

The warrior, Druid and monk wept for that smug pain in the ass obnoxious little gnome. Tibalt grudgingly admitted that he might miss her too.

I got many hugs. But now I have a new character, who is a pain in the ass in a whole new way...

Right now I'm playing a heroes campaign in D&D 3.5, and we're squaring off with a group of frost giants. My monk had not been doing stellar amounts of work, mostly doing trips to cause them to fall into our wizards spells but not doing any real damage on his own. We end up on the last of the giants, and I decide to try something stupid. My rolls have not been spectacular with this character except in a few instances where it really made no difference, so I'm a little fed up.

"I do a sundering kick attack to his codpiece"

I roll. Natural 20. My DM goes into exquisite detail of how this giant been destroyed, while not having been outright killed. I inadvertently recreated the climax of Commodore Hustle season one.

I am so happy.

We were playing a dnd 3.5 Eberron campaign. I ran a Gnome Bard (Sabar) who was somehow the straight man with a couple of magic tricks. We had a hippie Changeling Cleric (Syll), a tough-gal Human Fighter (Kyra), an emo Human Bow-Fighter (Tarquin), and a jock Half-Orc Barbarian (Edd). Basically, this was an introductory campaign where our DM put us through Morgrave University, an adventuring school of dubious prestige. My favorite highlights so far include: Edd sucking our dwarven-professor's gross beard, Tarquin getting repeatedly punched in the face, Eberron Fight Club with exploding zombies, Tarquin acquiring a Derro which we had killed and thrown in the trash, and a two-hour (Real Time) fight with a necromancer who was trying to plunge the city of Sharn (Located on an elemental-whatever of air) into an elemental plane of darkness. We killed him without mercy.

We may pick this up next fall because of how our summer jobs work out. Yay for university metagaming!

First two sessions of my "First Age of Middle Earth" Campaign have gone smoothly. Two character deaths so far, both in the second session and both the same player. Once was because he went wandering off on his own because the guy who noticed the wolves howling in the East failed to tell the party (I pass notecards) and then because an Orc rolled the javelin throw of the fucking Valar and he bled out.

Still, the rest of the party is intact, and my overall plans for the campaign are progressing as intended. *maniacal laugh*

The last game I played was a bit ago but the situation was entertaining to me at least. I was apparently the get things done character so as the rest are all arguing to figure out which door to go down and which path, who should decide yadda yadda yadda, I end up using my sneak and push the big button in the center of the room to move forward.

Turns out it wasn't the quickest path but I did save us from the DM's persistent move along joke of a T-Rex that would randomly appear and attack us

So I just got back from a recent Call of Cthulhu session. We're doing the Mask of Nyarlathotep campaign, for those who know of it, and we just ascended a pyramid talked with Nyarlathotep and booked it out of there. My character died and became the Avatar of Nyarlathotep and another character died. So now the party is on their way to Singapore to check into some leads. But this means I'm on my 3rd character in the campaign, so I'll be Quincy Lockhart, hunter/guide extraordinaire!
