Anyone interested in a LRR D&D 5e Spelljammer campaign?

Postby Nima55 » 21 Dec 2015, 00:13

I've been really craving some d&d, and Spelljammer seems very interesting to me. Would anyone be interested in DMing or playing?

Spelljammer, It's the setting with hippo-people, pirat illithids, and flying ships correct?
I would definitely be up for some D&D 5e, but I don't feel like I know enough about the Spelljammer setting to comfortably be able to DM, but as a potential player I'm in.

How do you see the game being run Nima, over sites like roll20 and rpol, over skype, here on the forum?

I don't think I'll have the time myself, but I can recommend using Google Hangouts (or Skype) plus Roll20 for D&D. We've run a number of campaigns that way over in DBChat.

I could see this as a series of one offs or short campaigns, which we could use to try out different DMs or play systems and figure it out as we go.

That might not be a bad idea at all Jademelio, thou I'm really itching to try out 5e as a player I guess I would be willing to DM a one-off or short campaign in a setting I'm more familiar just to get us started.
Would probably be either in The Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Ravenloft, or Dark Sun.

I would be down to DM a freeform one off in 5e or 0 system.

Cool, I don't have much experiance roleplaying systemless, but I'm definitely willing to give it a whirl, and this way we at least have two one-offs to get us started.
I do however feel we need a couple of people more that we currently have to make this a reality, Nima55 might very well check back in with this thread after the holidays but that still is only three people, as Master Gunner only seemed to join this discussion to offer us some helpful advise.

I can probably get more players, I still have the spread sheet for the LRR D&d thing last year. I permenant DM would be a nice thing to find though.

I agree, a permenant DM would be preferable in the long run.
Sadly/Happily depending on which angle you come at it from I geuss, I'm already DMing for a good little group where I live and while I know some DMs are able to run multiple campagnes simultaneously I am not one of those.
That said if you can round up some extra players jadamelio, I still stand by my offer to run a couple of one-shorts or even a short campaign.
Dungeons & Dragons are by far the rules sets I'm most familiar, but just to give you a somewhat wider net to throw when going through your list I also know:
- Fantasy flight games' Dark Heresy rule set.
- Monte Cook Games' Numenéra rule set.
- White Wolf Game Studio's World of Darkness (Thou I'm not sure that setting is a good starter, I would personally like to get to know people a little before jumping into it)

That's a great offer, if we here from Nova maybe we can get the running in the new year.

Alternatively I have been looking to try DM less RPGs as an alternative, and this could be a good chance for that.
