Geez, you guys. I've roped someone into teaching me how to play, but now I'm sort of worried. How bad is it going to be if I can't do the haka?

I'm not familiar with that card, but it sounds very similar to Royal Assassin which was in the 2012 core set, amongst many other older ones.

Oh man, that remix. Bravo Bradley Rains!
I predict that Paul will become accidentally awesome at Magic, since he has been known to go crazy with new hobbies (see Installation Anxiety, The Arms Race).
I also love how much the crew took the mickey out of themselves, particularly with the shuffling. That was hilarious.

How the crap did James open his pack that way?
Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
it's a neat trick. The pack's aren't perfectly airtight, so if you pull the seal back and tug it a bit to get air into the pack, you can pop it by clapping it between your hands.

I'm tempted to buy some boosters just to try it. Because of course I am never otherwise tempted.
Magic Decks -
Standard Deck: just some random fail cards.
Modern Deck: 5 colors, because less than 5 is for wimps.

That was our plan!RytelCSF wrote:6. This didn't really feel like a commercial at all, so good job there. It felt much more like the continuation of the "LRR crew plays Magic" series, where "It's Magic" was the pilot.

Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
A friend of mine plays a deck with some Planar Portals, a mess of Harrows, and some other nonsense that makes him shuffle his deck. When that thing gets rolling, he spends half his turn just shuffling. It's obnoxious, and as a result I laughed way harder than I should have at Alex & Jer's shuffle-off.
Also, we decide turn order with Rock-Paper-Scissors. Are dice really common elsewhere?

I remember doing that with every pack of Harry Potter TCG I got.
I do have one question. Are the rules in the fat pack booklet of M12?

I've always revealed a card in the middle of the deck, and whoever's got the highest converted mana cost chooses first play.

Yes, along with a complete card list. And a rather poor life counter (read: D20 with the numbers all messed up). Oh and two flat-pack card boxes.
That was awesome. Best bit of the whole thing?
Graham: Magic magic magic magic magic
Matt: Magic magic magic magic magic... MAGIC
Alex: DERP DERP DERP IM ALEX THIS IS HOW I TALK!!!
I laughed out loud
And I loved the cards of the crew and the CHustle remix And all the rest of it of course

I don't think the die are poor, It's a spindown die. It helps save time searching for the number you are on. I just wished the flat-pack card boxes were better...

But when there are any number of apps you can get to keep track of life (including the one used in the original It's Magic video) it seems a bit redundant. Or, y'know, use a pen and paper

Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
That gave me a good chuckle, especially Action 9 having a sports commentating team living up to the A9 standard. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

No, actually.
That isn't the M12 Fatpack book. That is a Magic rulebook, with the M12 graphics.
Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
No disrespect intended, but do Canadians actually say "upstate"? If so, why? "Up-province" just sound too weird?

Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
I already commented on twitter, saying that I loved it even though I haven't played Magic in years, and I was never very good at it/had the disposable income to become good at it. Top notch comedy here, and Paul's expressions were GREAT. One note though: What was with the voice (Graham's?) saying "Great!" during the first D20 roll, and "Oh, well l..." during the second roll? Was that some intended joke I don't get it? Or camera sound sneaking in? Or am I just going crazy?
But anyway, yeah, loved it!

Despite only getting into Magic recently myself, this is very open to those who have no idea what it is and I love it for that.

In British Columbia (where the crew is) saying 'the interior' is analogous to 'upstate' as the main urban areas, Vancouver and Victoria, are on the coast. This usage is BC specific - it would be meaningless to someone from say land locked Saskatchewan.
A more general Canadian expression might be to say 'up north' as most people live near the southern edge of Canada.

Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
So when do we get a LRR OST?
Re: FRIDAY NIGHTS: Untap
I know nothing about Magic, yet still found episode 1 to be enjoyable. Hoping I can pick up a thing or two from watching.
