sigh the good old days of caw go, by good old day i mean the time when i stopped playing standed.
Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
Hey Paul- do you really have two Angelic Destinies you aren't using? 'Cuz I would love more for my White Knight deck.
Putting that aside, great episode. Ah, the wonderful world of deck building styles. I tend to go Kathleen's route with silly themes. My black deck, for example, has no males in the card art. I call it March of the Black Queen.

Poor Matt. Each episode is getting better.

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
I was hoping that in the end Matt's head would explode... Though this would create a slight continuity error if he wanted is part of later episodes. Also what happened to Alex's Magic magic from earlier Hustles. I loved it when he turned regular playing cards in to a magic deck.
I may not be funny or witty, but that does not make me less strange.

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
The some decks are bad against others is true
Example my blue/white Urzas Legacy got maimed by my friends blue control deck but then my white/red life-gain/burn/instant deck defeated his blue control deck.
He finished me with Jace, Memory Adept's 0 loyalty counter ability.

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
A couple of questions:
1. Does that infinite mana myr untapping trick actually work? Or is it for the lols?
2. Will there be an official Friday Nights ringtone?
Actually Paul's comment about spending so much time constructing a deck then relying on a good first hand is pretty much the way I see things. It's all well and good getting a good deck together but at the end surely you're relying on the luck of the draw as to how it plays?

Wait why are you talking about Preordain? That hasn't been in standard since last summer. I thought maybe you'd made the video ages ago, but then you're talking about Snapcasters? Stop confusing us!

Really nice work illustrating all of the ways to construct magic decks and how many of them are quite bad methods if taken to extremes.

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
I used to go for a combination of 1, 5 and 6.
I'd spend time figuring out which types of deck mine were weak against while taking queues from the internet about what really wouldn't work.
The only time I ever played standard in tournaments was back in the sweet low-powered era from about prophecy to just before myrrodin (when artifact synergy exploded). It was great because even at high level play, decks that cost less than £60 could be extremely competitive.
Very good episode!

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
If Matt Wiggins - Human Angel Enthusiast let you search your deck for an Angelic Destiny, I would totally play that card.

Yeah it does. When they first were spoiled I was tempted to make it but never could find any galvanizers.

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
I have met a number of people like Alex, and I have tended to want to punch them in the face, and I'm saying this as a Spike who has played in constructed tourneys before.
Although my most direct example of this was when a friend of mine, who's actually a pretty cool guy normally, was looking at my GR deck that can reliably kill on turn 5 and sometimes on turn 4 and he was wondering why I wasn't playing savanna lions and other white cards. When I tried to explain to him that it was a Green Red deck, not a green red white deck, and that I wasn't interested in dropping almost $100 on non-basics (I was running kird apes so I'd need fetches, duals, or shock lands) and risk messing up one of my most stable decks he just looked at me confused.
And I wish I was the guy who traded that Angelic Destiny to Matt, I would love a pare of Snapcasters.

Man that conversation with Alex at the start is so like the conversations I have in college: "Lambholt Elder? Dude you should fill your deck with Mirran Crusaders"
In case anyone asks, the "G" stands for "Ginger"

Would you like a "totally not legal in standard" Totem-Guide Hartebeest to go with that Angelic Destiny?

Re: Friday Nights: Constructed
Really liking your decision of following Paul as essentially the main character on his journey to learn Magic. I thought it was just going to be a serious of jokes about aspects of Magic, but I think you did a really good job of using cH's own continuity of Paul not playing Magic to make it an effective marketing video for the game.

I LOVED the exchange:
G: so what did you learn?
P: That I am both a bad winner and a sore looser.
Had me in stitches.

This one was more confusing for people who don't know the rules, but still funny.
I was somewhat disappointed you didn't actually go to Nanaimo

GOOD OPPONENT GREG:
1) SAYS "GOOD GAME, WELL PLAYED" IN FULL INSTEAD OF ACRONYMS/
2) THINKS YOUR CARDS ARE ALL REASONABLY POWERED.
3) DOESN'T BLAME LOSSES ON A BAD FIRST HAND.
4) BUILDS DECKS WITHOUT MILLING OR POISON COUNTERS.

This is pretty much what I thought, too.
Also, how does this video affect Ray, cH-wise? I know he was a random pedestrian once already, but will he just be the floating gentleman*?
*As in, he isn't a specific character, but always around.
