I'm curious about the whole Snapcaster trade from Episode 2. I figured that they were filmed before the rotation (pre-banning, actually, considering the Caw-Blade stuff on Paul's board), but then Matt traded two Snapcasters. I then figured there was just some continuity issue, but now, you're playing pre-Innistrad standard, and now I'm incredibly confused.

Graham wrote:We had to replace a shot in there, so we added the Japanese card bit as a funny little reference to our own proclivity for "pimping" our decks with foil and foreign cards.

Got to love those foreign cards... I recently found online and bought a booster box of Russian DKA, to go with the Russian ISD cards I won at Desert Bus... it just seems to fit too well, particularly Сорин Марков, Повелитель Иннистрада, what with Markov being a legit Russian name (and Sorin is Romanian, which is kinda close).

As for the video... I enjoyed it. It seemed like it had... fewer jokes in it? Or something? More Magic, certainly. It just didn't seem quite as strong as the first couple of episodes, which had our local store cracking up a lot (apparently we used to have a regular who was exactly like Alex in Ep 2... right down to "You should totally change your deck to include X, Y and Z", "But I'm not trying to make that kind of deck!", "I don't understand...").

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this episode is in any way bad, it's still great. Just that the first couple of eps were even better, and set a very high bar.
While no one overhear you quickly tell me not cow cow.

The Sanpcaster thing was, indeed, a stupid mistake when we reshot that scene. We shouldn't have used ISD cards.

This was all meant to take place pre-ISD.

Still not a fan of Magic, but this series was highly enjoyable!

Maybe the guy from Split Decision can get a job as MTG announcer? It just seems to be something he'd be good at. Not sure why I think that though, call it a hunch.

And seeing Paul trounce Jer's deck and finish with his own line was pretty sweet :D

I hope at least someone at WotC is kicking themselves for not having you announce the Top 8 at the Seattle Grand Prix. That would have been amazing.

I'm kind of like Paul, I'm fairly new to Magic which I started playing because all my friends played it, tonight (in Australia) I went to my first FNM and played in a draft tournament, which I won! Shame all my prize boosters were junk, but you can't have everything

Thanks for a great series guys and I hope that even if Wizards don't get you do another one, you'll still have Magic-themed videos in the future :D

I have no idea what you were talking about in Magic terms but I want more and will start playing the Magic game I bought on Live last month to try and figure out what the hell you guys were talking about.

I'm kind of amused by all the people trying to figure this out based on when the cards being used were available.

I was trying to do the same using the comic books on the shelf behind Kathleen. So old! : )

I was only curious because there's an inconsistency (which Graham has addressed, so it makes sense now)

I'm assuming they were shot late summer 2011, with the one scene being re-shot in fall/winter 2011, causing the inconsistency.

I was going by Kathleen's hair color(s).

I finally broke down and got MTGO because of this series, and after the commander episode I'll definitely be looking to see when my local shop has a commander day going on.

I would love to see more stuff from you guys sponsored by WOTC. Penny Arcade's D&D podcasts were so amazing, I'd love to see you guys get to play around more in their worlds. Do you have any more news on what the future holds for that parntership? How have they liked the response to Friday Nights?

Always fun when the same deck (or deck type) meet in a one-on-one confrontation. Pretty much becomes a battle of "who can do this faster and/or better"

You guys are seriously making me want to get back into the game, but I REALLY don't want to be where I was before: blowing money on packs and making crappy, but fun-themed decks.

I've forwarded Friday Nights on to a few people I play Magic with, to almost universal appreciation. And to a lot more jokes about, "God, that's such a Jer move" at WNM.

I love the way Alex says "I scoop." (His expression's pretty priceless, too.)

He's like, "Am I saying that right? This is strange, new territory for me."

Dragons Claw would make things difficult though because every time you play anything you're giving your opponent life. Scooping would be a perfectly reasonable response :P
