There's no time to relax, as Paul tries to crack Magic Origins ahead of the Pro Tour with the help of an algorithm that is slightly suspect. Meanwhile, Ladies' Night is overtaken by a pair of Spikey villains. Sort of.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION.

Will you edit Paul's card to use Menace?

Missie was great in this episode. She should be in these more often, she's great and I'm all for better representation of women magic players

It was kind of delicious watching Kathleen and Missie throw huge 10 mana plays around and have them be utterly ruined by their opponents using an elegant counter-play. Just... The way it took the wind out of their sails completely. Also "this mill deck never wins!" spoke to me.

Also, I hope the not-abilities were fun to come up with because they were certainly fun to listen to!

I'm glad to see Kathleen finally learned a lesson (about her deck's weaknesses).

I personally prefer the B-story, though the A-story was great.

So, Paul's algorithm... Is it in fact an early version of a future AI Beej?

What timing! I believe the card abilities are based off something similar to this http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/crea ... ent-neural
My favorite being
Morph B(B/B)(G/W) (You may cast this card from your graveyard to the battlefield, you may pay 1. If an enchantment card, then put the rest of target creature card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. If exile is you sacrifice it unless you pay 1G. If you do, put a 3/1 green Soldier creature token onto the battlefield. Put it into your graveyard.)

and the bonfire redirect being referenced by both Alex and Serge (alex having done it and calling serge over IRL "Judge! Can I?" "Yes you can" "*enter maniacal laughter here from Alex*").
Bad beats bro.

I love the touch where the description of the Alex card in the opening credits ended up as one of Paul's generated cards in the episode itself. (If you haven't caught that, have another look.)

James is the perfect level of incredulous when he sees a card with Banding.

flunge: This creature may block while tapped if you attacked with all your creatures on your last turn. Whenever you attack with all creatures, this creature gains +1/+1 and trample until end of turn.

inpoopulate: Whenever a creature with inpoopulate dies, put X 0/1 red and green poop creature tokens with defender onto the battlefield where X is the creature's toughness. (Mostly red and green creatures)

runcible: For each effect on the battlefield, this creature counts as a creature type specified by that effect if you wish it to count as that creature type. (mostly blue creatures)

Wifelink: Whenever this creature is blocked by a creature with the same creature type, gain control of that creature. (mostly white creatures)

Islandflock: Whenever this creature attacks, put X tokens that are copies of this creature onto the battlefield tapped and attacking the same opponent where X is the number of Islands defending player controls. Exile those tokens at the beginning of the next end step. (only appears on small birds)

corpsebreathing: exile a creature card from your graveyard, this creature gains wither until end of turn. (or infect if that isn't too strong)

sadness: Whenever a creature you control dies, this creature can not attack or block until the beginning of your next end step.

Mentalcraft: If you drew 3 or more cards this turn... (Since mind thinks are general draw related)

chunnel: Whenever you activate a mana ability, you may pay 1 life. If you do, deal 1 damage to target creature with defender, it can't be regenrated. (Bad fusion of channel and tunnel cards)

Belated, stupid idea:

inrimulate X: target creature with inpoopulate gains +0/+X until end of turn.

So, was the Magic Origins preview explicitly based on the previously mentioned neural network results published on mtg salvation? If so that's a decent turnaround on the episode production.

Honestly, this may be one of the best ever. Great interactions in the archenemy games, topical, loved the stinger.

"Banding?"

Oh man; if Tromple's in the new set, I'm definitely gonna have to pick some up.

I don't think there has been any play testing done.

methtouch: whenever a creature without a meth counter blocks this creature, put a meth counter on it. Any creature with a meth counter on it must block a creature with methtouch whenever possible. Prevent all damage that creatures with meth counters on them would deal to creatures with methtouch.

Just slipping that in there so casually killed me. All of the video was funny as usual, but that was the icing on the cake.

Oh wow, it took me this long to notice the massive incongruity between the episode and the card opener. In the intro, graham's version of *Flush* is completely different from what is later discussed.

But of course - you wouldn't want them to completely spoil the spoilers, would you? :P
