Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Yeah... LRR streams so much, and at certain specific times, and when I usually want to watch a back-dated stream... It's typically when someone else is streaming, so I have to choose whether to miss the live stream and catch it later, or delay the back-logged stream.

LRR records the streams locally on the streaming computer, and uploads to YouTube from that footage. So there's no risk of losing the LRR streams.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
No risk of losing, but Cam and Kathleen's streams will likely be video-only and no audio if they go on YouTube, as well as Alex's MISERY Mod streams.

Not even if they go onto Youtube, since Twitch is now ALSO using the contentID system on their VODs as SohNata mentioned in their post.
EDIT: I misspoke, Twitch is using *a* content identification system called AudibleMagic. Effectively the same thing, but not the ContentID system that Youtube uses.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Well, they /could/ convert the whole broadcast on Twitch into highlights, and supposedly all the ContentID system does is force-mute the video. So if, somehow, you were able to get the video bits on your computer and open it in a regular media player, the audio would still be there.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
If the crew needs help in getting their archives organized and uploaded, this page should help.
Since that's a dynamically-generated page and will be useless 3 weeks from now, I have an archived version as of right now here.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Just checking out a couple of Alex's MISERY streams and they seem unmuted, which is a positive sign given that the radio in that mod plays actual music.
Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Well, the crew can do headphones for music, and that will at least keep the audio live.
It thoroughly sucks that you guys can't, oh I don't know, hook up the titles of the music into the stream and get referrals for sales. 'Cause you are effectively advertising it when you stream.
But I guess inclusive thinking is not a big thing with monopolies.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Seems that James's Minecraft VODs have been hit with muting despite (IIRC) James having permission from BigGiantCircles to use his music.
EDIT: On close inspection so far it's just the one broadcast, so it may well have been other music. Hard to tell when it's muted though!

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Which ones? I checked a random few and they were fine?
Edit: Checked the latest one and found it... Probably was when it went off-playlist and started going into the other music.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Twitch have said they aren't muting live streams, just play backs.
And for Cam's streams, for this one, all I'm seeing is a copyright notice, no actual video at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g7xtekwyH8
(Dark Souls pt 4)

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
On a positive note, I've found a Chrome plugin that plays back the Twitch chat from the time of the VOD.
Down-side: It doesn't play well with BetterTTV, so you have to swap between them, but you're probably not using most of the BetterTTV features when you're watching VODs anyway.
On a negative note, these Twitch changes probably mean that Kathleen has lost me as a potential viewer, and Cam may end up losing me as a viewer. They both stream at inconvenient times for me, and they're hooked on their unlicensed music, so I can't watch them later anymore. I'm going to try my hardest to keep up with James live so the same thing doesn't happen to him when his playlist goes off-list into unlicensed music.

"Past VODs that have been flagged are still exportable, but they will be muted even after you've exported them. This will affect a massive amount of archived content on Twitch, but live broadcasts are not being monitored or muted." - See more at: http://www.gamnesia.com/news/twitch-ann ... -P-n_mSx8E
soooo, live feeds are not affected luckily, but does this mean that exporting to youtube is also screwed or does the crew use separate recordings for youtube?

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
I believe Graham has said that they record all streams locally, and use that to upload to youtube.

I think that's correct. I was watching one of Alex's STALKER streams on YouTube, and it ended when he said that his local hard drive was getting full - he stopped the recording. I was able to watch the rest on Twitch's VOD service.
Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Welp, I can't be catching live streams all the time. I have a job n'stuff. So I am mostly in catchup mode, and there's no point in watching if there's no audio.
Can anyone from the crew let us know what plans might be in place to help with us catch-uppers?

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
We definitely do record everything locally on the streaming computer, so we shouldn't lose anything once this change goes into effect. That being said, you may have noticed that we stream A LOT, somewhere in the range of 40 hours per week. Sorting through those videos, editing out the intro/outro and commercial breaks and uploading them to youtube takes time. The uploading particularly can be tricky because we can't do it while there is a stream going on.
We will try to keep on top of it and get the recordings uploaded before they are removed from the twitch archives, but we thank you for your patience.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
So... What happens when Graham and James leave Thursday open?
So, I don't know if they should go out-of-town less or more...
- Cam spills beer all over the sound-board
Cam drafts Jund
Neither Cam nor Adam can figure out how Verdant Haven works
MtGO trolls attack Cam
Alex wears a green shirt
Alex can't get the emulator working
Alex runs out of hard drive space
Heather whoops the butts of both Alex and Beej at a game
So, I don't know if they should go out-of-town less or more...

I kind of regret the fact they couldn't get the very first game going. It looked weird and interesting. Personally, I felt like the game they ended up playing for the most part got pretty boring after the 'boss fight.' There were some interesting conversations going on. But the game itself just kind of felt... eh. It seems like a fun game to play, but not to watch.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
I was checking the twitch replay for yesterday's stream and the timing on the first stream-death is so good.
Alex: Wait, what? Huh, that's weird.

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
Wonder if it would be possible to record the audio stream from the presenter without the music but still be able to broadcast the music on the live feed. Well I know it's possible, just not sure how realistic it would be for ya'll...

Re: General LRL Stream Feedback
All the audio and video goes up to Twitch as one feed, and the Twitch archives are exactly what was broadcast. Locally, they could separate music audio from voice audio, but there's no need to do that (well, except for when YouTube complains, but right now it's way more trouble to set it up than it's worth).
