IDDQDerp
Re: IDDQDerp
Okay, I watched this as far as when they fell off the water into the water, and then saw the platform of water above the water in their search for purgatory, and all i could think of was Guy Maddans "My Winnipeg" and the "Forks beneath the Forks". . .

Re: IDDQDerp
Yeah, that whole level is pure comedic gold, from ALL their reactions upon suddenly entering it, to the struggle with the controls, to the "let's just jump off the level into 'blue hell' and die" stratagem.
...and then after interminable levels of "Pardonfuck?", they finally reach the helicopter...
...and Cam doesn't just break, he SHATTERS.
...and then Alex loses it (and I swear to god, he sounds like he's seriously lost his mind, possibly forever).

Coming back to this... I found the speed run in question where the runner says that he was the 24th order for this game. That was like six months ago... Graham or Alex, do you happen to remember what order number you were?
Re: IDDQDerp
We were order 85.
I feel like Peaches__ (the runner) is responsible for a lot of that.

Re: IDDQDerp
Yeah, I'm wagering AGDQ caused a lot of interest in this 'game'...
...but then, I think you've probably done the same thing (except we can't know how many copies sold past 85...without giving these people another $7 )
And considering its development started in 1997, it probably wouldn't have been THAT bad...if they'd spent six more months to FINISH THE GAME (character animations, seriously bugged level design, etc. etc.) If it had been completed, it would have been a mediocre DOOM-clone released in 1998 with a 'batshit ignorant of the outside world' Christian theme. And would have been forgotten.
But the fact that you can't tell if you're attacking or not, the fact that you can't walk into a room due to clipping issue, and that items you need to collect are sunken into the floor, and most of all, you can IGNORE THE MOBS and just speedrun through the game in a mere six minutes (THAT is completely absent level design), means sincere customers of familyPCgames should be taking them to court over 'failure to provide promised goods and services' as this game is blatantly undone and in serious need of a beta test and more development.
...because that dang soundtrack is PRETTY CATCHY.
But at $7, for just ninety minutes of 'fun', this falls behind even the shorter AAA games in 'value' - Dark is supposed to be something like a 10-hour game, and with a $40 price, that comes to a ratio of four dollars per hour of gameplay. Contrastingly, PW:AOfG has a ratio of $4.67 per hour, and we're all discovering how BAD Dark is.
Heck, after seeing THIS as the result of apparently FIFTEEN YEARS of development (Copyright starts in 1997, and the first user review on the site is 2012)...
...now I'm willing to cut Gearbox a little more slack for the mediocre Duke Nukem Forever that they ended up finishing for 3DRealms & 2K.

Honestly, this is one of the few things that that form of acquisition doesn't bother me that much. The fact the people who made this 'game' want $7 when there are a ton of indies that work harder for less kind of bothers me. Like, as hilarious as watching Alex play through it was, I'm not a big fan of them getting money for this abomination. Maybe saying that is kind of harsh and dickish, but it's how I really feel.
As for the release, I saw a trailer on Youtube that had been released in 2009, so it's possible that's around the time the game came out. Here it is.

Watching Prayer Warriors. The bit at the end is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, just to see all three of them totally lose it. I'm not sure if I've ever seen Cam laugh uncontrollably.

^ Agreed. That must go down as one of the funniest LRR moments in history
Re: IDDQDerp
Graham, is there an LRR Steam account we can gift games to? I think I have a copy of Zeno Clash lying around and would LOVE to inflict it on Alex [:

If you want to give it to me, my account is eximworks. It will show up as Nikotina.
I should probably go change it to IDDQDerp.

Re: IDDQDerp
I've had you on Steam for ages. I think I even sent you something recently, but I can't remember what it was.
If you're ever gonna do MvM for IDDQDerp, PLEASE let me know. I will get ALL OVER THAT.

Re: IDDQDerp
We'll set up a general LRR account to, so we can all play games people want us to.
But don't anyone feel obliged. You can just suggest games and we can buy them too

So, now that I know how to make gifs, I made the one I wanted:
I'm tempted to zoom in on Alex and make one of just his face....

Re: IDDQDerp
Though Cam & Alex are my fave 'stream team', Beej is making a GREAT 'copilot' - he & Alex had some fascinating discussions yesterday, and he's honestly helpful when Alex gets forgetful about things.
But my favourite thing now, is the weight reduction ideas, and how he was starting to reconsider the underslung grenade launcher...
...and Alex's decision for resolution.
But again, Beej took this hilarious moment and nearly made me choke on a sip of water with his 'reenactment with an audience':
{Stalker A is on hillside across valley from Stalker B, and watching same with binoculars to determine if friend or foe} "Okay, he's a Stalker, but what is he doing, just standing there?"
{Stalker B stands and looks thoughtful, occasionally glancing into his backpack which he holds in his hands. After a while, he seems to have an epiphany, and then grabs some items from his pack and throws them in all directions. Explosions soon follow}
Stalker A, nodding knowingly says "Ah. He's over weight limit."

Re: IDDQDerp
You know what? We should have a wiki page for LRLive gifs.

Re: IDDQDerp
That's a fantastic idea, I'd be happy to set it up and update it. Is there a particular procedure for adding things to the Wiki?
