Just posting about your DS stream of 06/10. I'm 40 minutes on this stream and wow - I wish I was watching it live so I could offer some support.

Tell you what, the most popular weapon mod for DS would be the friggin' torch.

How does Cam feel about Tower Defense like games? According to TotalBiscuit, Space Run is "hard and really mean", so I immediately thought of Cam!

If you're looking at defense-style games, if not actual tower defense, I strongly recommend AI wars: Fleet Command. It's a pseudo-RTS (real-time with pause) that's somewhere between tower defense and classical RTS combat, pitting you against a merciless, inevitable foe. It's a lot of fun single-player and amazing multiplayer co-op.
When the upkeep takes longer than the main phase, I know I've done my job well.

I have been watching the Valiant Hearts stream from earlier this week, I am not done yet as i do not have the time to watch it in one go but i have come to the pause around the bolt cutters, am i must say that this is one of my favorite stream sessions. The game is beautiful, Cam and Alex is a great streaming duo, they are knowledgeable about the subject and funny while still being respectful of the real life events the story is build upon, so if there could be more sessions like this one it would be fantastic

Amen.

1) I hope Cam sees this through to the end and streams all of the game,

2) I hope Alex joins him every time he streams.

I was surprised they were not getting teary in Valiant Hearts. When Cam said "And we'll be back for Christmas" my eyes moistened a bit as sadly it was not true, despite the Christmas truce.

Yeah, me too.
It looks like a fantastic game which I will never ever play because it hits a bit too close to home. It's a shame, but at least I have Cam and Alex to play it for me.

Man, I don't know what you're going to be playing after that, but I'm glad there's a week to just let that sit before going on to something else

Yeah - Valiant Hearts was something.

Not sure if I want some ironic death train like XCOM with Long War or something whimsical to return to a less emotional/contemplative mood.

I think Long War could be fun just because Cam would be experimenting, so even if it was a long train of death it would be fresh and interesting. Plus, I'd like to know if it's worth a buy.

I saw the review Good Game (Australin games show) put together for Valiant Hearts. I think it's the first 10 I've seen one of the hosts give a game in a while.

Hell, if you want a message of support for the game, just put on the box that even Yahtzee thought it was great

I'd just like to say thanks for getting me to corporal with crazy explosives Cam, it was a pleasure to die for the cause.

I'll get round to watching the rest of the ep eventually, it was going quite well when I left.

Just as a bit of trivia about World War I trench systems, this is an overhead view of what they were trying to break into and through: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Aerial_view_Loos-Hulluch_trench_system_July_1917.jpg

I don't think you can really see it, but the barbed wire would have been a field extending around 50 feet or so in front of the trenches. The crenelated look of the trenches served two purposes - first, it gave defenders plenty of corners with which to ambush incoming attackers, and second, it minimized damage in case of a direct artillery hit (so the most that would be taken out by any given shell would be two small segments).

If you want to see the barbed wire, this is a fairly representative picture here: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/world-war-i-barbed-wire-granger.html

My thesis supervisor (my MA thesis was on World War I British Cavalry on the Western Front and their preparations for the war) once told me that he had tried to figure out if it was even physically possible to cause a breakthrough under those circumstances - the answer he came up with was "no." Breaking in was easy enough, but breaking through wasn't happening.

So... as a possible suggestion for future Cammander theatres of operations...

I've started playing Europa Universalis IV, and for what it's worth, it's nowhere near as hard to get into as I was led to believe.

Definitely something I'd like to see Cam try at some point, if only because of all the awesome historical factoids he'll drop on us throughout the game.

I'd love to see EU IV, or any Paradox game, for that matter.

So I put my name on the XCam list shortly after I subscribed back in February. Unfortunately I've never been able to actually watch any of Cam's streams. Does anyone know if I've been deployed/killed?

So you know what your name and nationality was? KNowing the meat grinder that is Cam's XCom games, there is a very high chance the answer is 'yes' and 'yes, gruesomely'

Most of the soldiers that get killed are nameless Rookies, though. Then, he gets the chance to replay the level, so they die a couple more times without getting named.
