Magnum Rewatch Ep10 - The Curse of the King Kamehameha Club
A mysterious curse seems set to bring down the King Kamehameha Club and Rick along with it. Meanwhile Graham finds the most useless piece of Magnum related trivia yet.
HOLY SHIT GUYS! BEARS!
Re: Magnum Rewatch Ep10 - The Curse of the King Kamehameha C
They actually burn the cane BEFORE it is harvested, it is done to remove all the rubbish and other growth underneath the cane to make harvesting easier.
I felt the writing in this episode was very good, lots of sensible twists, lots of proper investigating. Though I suspected the reporter early, the charlie angle completely threw me for a while.
------------------------------------------------
We are 10/11 episodes in now, it's time to make an offical numbers for the ratings and counts so we can actually keep track.
(1&2) Please Don't Eat The Snow In Hawaii ? /10
(3) China Doll 7.5/10
(4) Thank Heaven For Little Firls and Big Ones Too 6.0/10
(5) No Need to Know 9.0/10
(6) Skin Deep 8.0/10
(7) Never Again... Never Again ? /10
(8) The ugliest Dog in Hawai 6.0/10
(9) Missing in Action 4.0/10
(10) Lest We Forget ? /10
(11) The Curse Of The King Kamehameha Club 6.5/10
Counts:
Thats Racist: 3.5
Magnum Murder Count: 3
Discussion:
- I cannot find a Kathleen rating for the pilot episode, though in the second one it seems like there was.
- Also couldn't find a rating for Never Again... Never Again (the nazi episode)
- Kathleen says that lest we forget is the second best episode so far behind Never Again, but does not give a rating.
Racist COunt:
- I need to relisten to the China Doll episode, but I remember at least three from that one.
- I also added a half racist for this episode as it seems like there was a little bit of racist there.
- Does anyone remember any other "that's racist" moments from other episodes?
Murder count:
1 in the Pilot (Labool)
1 in China Doll (The bad guy)
1 in Never Again... Never Again (The nazi woman)
Other Possibles:
- In the pilot a hitman is killed when he drives off a cliff while chasing magnum. Magnum does not go to help.
- Rick guns down the other hitman with a MAC-10 later in the same episode.

Re: Magnum Rewatch Ep10 - The Curse of the King Kamehameha C
A primary school I went in Ontario was built in the mid/late 90s, and still had blackboards. The university I went to also had blackboards in the areas built in the 70s. So I could see a club in the the early 80s that is just turning around after just hanging in the black for several years wouldn't have replaced it yet. Especially since while whiteboards were around since the 50s/60s, the modern dry-erase marker was only invented in 1975.

My university still has blackboards now.

As someone who lived in Hawaii for two years I would like to say a few things about this episode. Note, I am not Hawaiian nor am I from there.
The North Shore is quite rural. Like most of Oahu there are the touristy areas and the local areas, and the North Shore has its fair share of "hick" places. The main evidence of this is that currently there are plans to build a commuter train from the east side of Oahu to downtown Honolulu. The majority of detractors locally come from the North Shore who want to "keep Hawaii natural" despite the fact Honolulu's traffic is among the worst in the nation.

I'll work on maintaining stuff on the wiki regarding Magnum Rewatch.
I think we should stick to only incrementing "That's racist" counts when Graham and Kathleen decide to in the podcast.

I added the ratings to the episode list in the lrr wiki to make it easier to compare them.

Wow, I remember that "Tropical Heat Wave" song you played being sung by Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye as part of the montage at the beginning of "White Christmas". I think it gets reused later in the movie as background music, too, as that movie seems to reuse every track at least once.

Did anyone catch the number of breaking 4th wall moments mentioned? Around 10 minutes into the podcast Kathleen mentions that there are multiple instances, but I only found the one mention of it.

I only saw the one, which was magnum looking into the camera. Maybe it was more of a "this show in general breaks the forth wall too much".
