Re: iPotato
It's too bad so many people didn't like it. I really appreciated the numerous puns. Also, nobody pointed out Graham's outfit, which was an exact copy of what Steve Jobs was wearing at the keynote.

Eh, I could take it or leave it. I thought some of the sentences were well crafted, such as, like Mechamancer mentioned: "redefine a completely new market segment" and I always enjoy playing with grammar like that, but it fell a bit flat for me. *shrugs*

Re: iPotato
I'm with King Kool on this one, it could have REALLY used some Buttstallation-type action. I suppose it might be funnier if you do watch Jobs's keynotes or other announcements like that, and appreciate it as a well-crafted parody of those, but even that's being done (and, as much as I hate to say it, being done better).

No one needs to point it out. It's the only outfit Steve Jobs wears.

I really liked this. Seeing how the iPotato is just as useful as the iPad. They probably cost the same too...

Potatoes are tuberous roots, whereas iPotatoes are clearly legumes.

Re: iPotato
Didn't do much for me. Should have taken it even farther. iPotato store was good.
Good costume choice, Graham.

Re: iPotato
Sorry so many of you were disappointed in it.
We just wanted to make fun, not of the iPad, but of Apple itself. By not making a single "iPad hurr dumb name" joke, we'd hoped to keep it different. So, understand that Apple is the one being lambasted here, not the iPad.
Glad some of you liked it though!

Re: iPotato
It wasn't bad. Just not really laugh out loud funny. The little jokes were funny. And I loved the turtleneck.

I would have suggested going with something like Steve Jobs trying to come up with the next product. He goes through life and whenever he looks at something, it warps into an iProduct. Like a cup of tea turns into iTea. A car turns into an iCar. Then finally, he comes up with an idea that is offscreen to the viewer. Cut to a laboratory montage. Then finally, the big reveal of the iPotato. Advertising it as combining the taste of a french fry with the nutrients of a baked potato and the heartiness of hashbrowns.

You can't have a winner all the time
I'm... actually neutral towards it like I am towards the iPad.
It's not bad, not great... it's ok.
It entertained me for 5ish minutes. So it has done what I was expecting of it.

Re: iPotato
Don't apologize, Graham. My brother really liked it (this is one of the first times I can think that we disagreed significantly about a video.)
When I was in college, I made a parody of the Matrix. There are lots of very subtle jokes about the Matrix series in it, and if you didn't know a whole lot about it, you would not be amused. I think this is the same way; I don't really care so much about Apple, so it all passes right by me.

Definitely not my favorite one, but I loved the stinger at the end so much. just the WINK was perfect. Everything up to that, just a bit lacking.

The joke was over 2 minutes in, not to mention it doesn't do anything for any of us who hate Apple.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

Re: iPotato
Of course, what they don't say is that you have to pay $100 to be able to test and deploy your iPotato recipes on an actual iPotato. Otherwise, you're stuck to doing iPotato development on the iPotato Simulator.

Re: iPotato
Well I for one enjoyed it. Being someone who was EXTREMELY underwhelmed by the iPad (It's an E-Reader meets an internet media device...Why is this so cool?) I dug the "We already have those!" joke.
Also kinda wondering how you got Graham's voice to echo like he was in an actual auditorium...
Not sure if I approve of the FULL Paul beard yet, it's no Goatee... I'll need a cleaner shot of it for final verdict.
(Side note: While underwhelmed by the iPad, I do think the combination of E-Readers and Smart Devices is a good way to go...)

Unfortunately this is the first LRR video in a looong time that hasn't done it for me. I think it was just to slow for me because it was delivered like an actual unveiling.

Re: iPotato
I kind of feel the same way about this vid as I did Right to the Source and Joystique, where the single subject and limited jokes detracted from how funny I felt it was. Though I didn't have a problem with the Apple-bashing (in fact I was rather looking forward to what you would do with it), it felt like I had seen it all before. In all honesty it seemed as though you guys felt the need to shoot for some topical humour and rushed out a vid on that basis alone.

Ah, the iPad joke video. Very nice.
I think the one more thing should ahve been "next we have the iPotato nano, the iTater"

Re: iPotato
i'm now expecting a lot of in-jokes using the iPotato in all or most of its forms. This video had me laugh loudly once and the stinger made up for the other parts of it. and i may be technologically inclined but that's aimed more at video games than new iProduce from Apple. why didn't they make the iApple, an app where you are Steve Jobs..

Look at the bright side, with all the iPotatoes that aren't being sold, they can be used by the Apple Russia Branch to brew more iVodka! HUZZAH!!!

Re: iPotato
I wonder how the Escapist forums took it.
Maybe if the video had come out the day after the iPad was announced? I know that would have been impossible to do, its just that most people are mentioning how many people have already trodden this kinda ground.
Also this G-Star.
