I'd argue that Lisa Foiles must know that she would get get this sort of reaction by presenting herself like that, and that there are signs that she actually wants to avoid this sort of thing, but her decision to spend a significant chunk of her second video rolling around on the floor caressing shoes* makes that somewhat difficult. So I'm going to agree with you on this one.

Re: Matt's acting. My favourite bits were when the computers displayed their respective error screens (especially including the Commodore 64), and when he was reaching out to Linux like he was thinking "Wait, come ba- Hang on a second, you just kneed me in the groin and punched me in the stomach. Why the hell should I bother? Stuff this!"

Also, I feel there's a difference between how an attractive woman is presented in Lisa's Top 5 and how attractive women are presented in this and other LRR videos. It's the difference between shouting "Over here over here, look at me, check out my BOOBS, and now I'll wiggle my ass at you, I'm really good at looking hot and I work really hard at it, so keep watching me bounce around!" and saying "Hey guys, I'm gonna do some acting here and say interesting things while looking sexy because, well, I'm a woman and I like to look good - now allow me to share my intellectual talents as well."

I agree, in LRR videos in general, the women's roles are well-rounded (no pun intended). This particular video, though, didn't seem that way. It might be because of the music video format and its lack of dialogue: Kathleen's character went from "close-up of boobs holding up a logo" to "money-grubbing stereotype" to "broken-down prop" with no opportunity for dialogue to build an intellectual counterpoint to the visual portrayal. I suppose one could say Kathleen's performance in this video was a skillful portrayal of an unsympathetic character, which is a legitimate triumph for an actor. But, perhaps because I'm used to seeing the LRR cast playing themselves, my perception of the video wasn't so much "actor portraying a stylized character" as "actor being used as eye candy."

Here, I thought the content was good and it was well acted, but it felt too much like a regular video. I thought it could have been better with some filters, more dramatic lighting, or more different camera angles. It doesn't have to be flashing, but could be more "atmospheric".

I see your point, but guys like Spike Jonze have played strongly with more realistic aesthetics for music videos before. His video for Praise You is a good example. I don't see it as a huge problem.

What you *really* need to do is to make videos for the Lost Scrolls Of Frosty. Every xmas I educate more people about the Scrolls and everyone loves it. Well, I dont' play it for anyone who's overly religious.

Generally the best operating systems from a technical standpoint are the ones average idiots can't use because all the work put into them has gone into reliability/performance/security, not making it pretty and easy to use, hell, many are console-only.

Linux runs the world but it's not on a lot of desktops, although distributions like Mint and Ubuntu are perfectly sufficient for most people.
MacOS is pretty pointless other than it having a few exclusive pieces of software, and fuck, the hardware prices just to run an OS made largely of free software.
Windows is a mess and proves a single entity making a whole OS is a bad idea, Win7 and 2000 are the only good version of Windows... funny how 98 was a piece of assballs using DOS when NT4 was VASTLY superior and nobody used it.
An extreme example of reliability and security is Minix 3, and operating system than can actually heal itself and is highly secure... but it's a bit slower by design and not easy to use, although the latter is really just a lack of manpower.

I use Windows for games and Linux for work and general stuff... a little gaming too.

This is the important part. It is more efficient to work with a less stable OS that is significantly more usable than it is to have a console-only OS that never crashes ever, even if your computer no longer exists in the physical plane.

Which is also, for example, why functional programming exists.
