Formal Complaint

Postby Matt » 12 Dec 2011, 13:03

When you've got a complaint of this magnitude, a bakery seems like a good a place as any to take it.

bobbies never carry guns.

that broke the sketch for me, other then that not a bad sketch

why a gun and not a baton?
police forces of the United Kingdom don't carry firearms, if needed they will call in a firearms unit.

Wow. That was metahumor on the level of Charlie Kaufman. Well done, Andy.

I actually groaned at the ending.

Good job, Andy!

I think the little card labeled "A BAKERY" just immediately set the tone for the whole sketch. After that, you could have been in a pet shop and the sketch would still have worked.

Dear LRR,

I wish to file a complaint about the depiction of Gorillas in the previous sketch. As an Eastern Lowland myself, I abhor the implication that this branch of Great Apes is a haven for criminals . It is well known that we now have the problem relatively under control, and that it is orangutans have the highest rate of violent crime in this area. And how do you think we got the funds to pay Mrs. Fossie for all her research and good press? Bake sales?

Yours ect,
Bobo the Gorilla (Mrs)

Also, this was greenscreened, right? I'm teetering between "yes" and "no".

And thus, that tingling little "boy this reminds me of Monty Python" in the back of my head comes tearing to the forefront. Well played, good sir. Well played.

Also- I imagine halfway to banana bread would be either banana dough, or some other treeborne fruit bread. Pineapple, maybe?

Clearly, halfway between banana bread and bread would be naan bread. Who's up for some curry?

Metametahumor is my favorite kind of metahumor.

EDIT: Also, this is retroactively the story of how LRR started. A gorilla who was trying to rob a bakery told some guy who kept complaining about the horrible sketch to try writing one every week. :P

Actually a half way would probably be breadfruit. And i believe that grows on a palm much like a banana.

This was amusing on *so* many levels - if not solely for the very Monty Python/'ello 'ello vibe (the latter I blame Andy for ENTIRELY) I got from the whole sketch. Over all a very well scripted video and amusing stinger at the end.

Oh, and Vigafre? I'm gonna assume that was a serious question and say no, I'm pretty sure that wasn't green screened.

Possibly one of the most well-written videos in the entire library. I think I have a new video to introduce people to LRR with!

I figured this was part of the joke. He's not just British for no reason, he's a bad representation of the British.

Was Kathleen reading lines from the iPad on the counter at the beginning?

I loved the meta-humour in this, right from the opening line it felt a little pythonesque, but then rapidly went in it's own direction and was awesome.

Well Dong.

I don't think so, and if graham or andy say it was part of the joke, well then it was, but I just think that was a bad prop choice, and they should have known better.

and it was a good sketch.

Our bakeries aren't equipped to repel complaints of that magnitude!
