I feel like these guys aren't military, so much as mercs for hire.
Having said that, yeah, we probably suck at marching

James? Grow the moustache full-time. It really suits you.

Seconded. It was the best part of the video, and I thought this was one of the best LRR videos in months, so that's saying something.

I would love to whole-hearteldy third this, however It would mean that James would need to dress as a cop/PI/Investigator etc at all times. As I am under the impression thet he still installs window coverings, this could be a problem. No one wants to open the door to the most intimidating-as-fuck drapery man.
As for the video - Good writing and Great casting. Everyone fit their roles really well.

Re: En Garde
This was hilarious! I'd forgotten how good Andy is at physical comedy.
I'm very much looking forward to the LRRCast/Loading Time for this as I expect many many takes were involved.
Very awesome, and you appear to have enough costume parts for 2 whole military uniforms now. Not long until you have enough to outfit your own private LRRmy... LRRcenaries... LRR Force...

Hah, I love your gaming logic videos. Andy's reactions were hilarious, right down to noticing the conveniently placed dumpster.

Hang on, what happened to Alexander Macris? Who's Schuyler Dievendorf?

Macris is still credited, he's the publisher.WAYF wrote:Hang on, what happened to Alexander Macris? Who's Schuyler Dievendorf?
Steve Butts, current content director, was previously also the series producer, but Schuyler Dievendorf is now handling that role.
He updates the stuff on The Escapist's end, and is my point of contact over there.

Re: En Garde
Loved the video, guys. I always wondered why I wouldn't get spotted by enemy units who despite being slightly off to next screen (in the same room though) would definitely be staring right in my direction, and now I know, it is because of strict marching orders.
Great writing, Paul. The discussion between the guards is a highlight of stealth gaming's idiosyncrasies.
Also, it is always a delight to see Andy, especially when you put him to good use like here. Like others, I loved the bushy "Stalin" on James.
Someone on the Escapist paid attention to the fact that Paul and Matt don't wear glasses leading to a slight in-joke pertaining to their characters "blindness" to Andy's character. Was that intentional or just something that looked better for the characters?

Huh... I went over the credits twice, and I managed to miss Macris both times.

Re: En Garde
The characters were done really well in this. It felt a little short, but that might've just meant I was enjoying it too much. The video was very reminiscent of "Job Security". Another great video poking fun at video game logic.

Re: En Garde
The sad thing about video game logic is that if it was actually logical it wouldn't be fun.
However, this video is funny and I'm glad video game logic is like it is.

I was actually just having a conversation about this subject with my girlfriend yesterday, as she watched me play deus ex.
Superb timing.

Re: En Garde
I can't really put my finger on anything specific but I really enjoyed this video. Maybe it was Andy's panicked reactions when the guards talk about turning around

I've been playing through the MGS2 VR missions recently, makes this video seem topical. Nice work

Re: En Garde
First thing, James have a mustache, therefore the video is awesome by default
Second thing, Andy is in this, therefore the video is awesome by default
Third thing, since the video is only funny if you know the stealth video game thing, might as well have put more references to games in there. Since “the” joke is kind of revealed early on I kinda found it not funny in the middle…

Re: En Garde
Andy is Canada's second greatest secret agent/spy, right after Mike Myers. Please make several feature length films based around Andy's character, with Michael Palin as his father in the third installment. Of course Paul would have to grow his beard back if he wanted to be the villain, unless you get James Cameron as the director so he could perhaps mocap the beard in with several millions of Canadian dollars of equipment and software.
The only thing I would have liked in the video was a cardboard box. Like a sneaky easter egg in the back of shot whilst other things were going on.

That was me (I'm just starting out on the LRR board). I'd be curious as well to know if this was an intentional allusion to the Paul and Matt's eyesight.
