Serious Cravings

Postby Graham » 21 Jul 2006, 16:41

Kathleen and I wrote this very, very late one night, but I think it turned out really well, in spite of that. Perhaps, even, because of that.

And as an added bonus, we got to eat bacon!

Also, on an unrelated note, Morgan would like the following Kathleen-ism for penis noted: Spam Javelin.
Thank you.

and the one from spain...the Flanpire.

I just noticed something about that Kitchen...its like a set for a sitcom. The same camera angles. Not thats a bad thing, cause they work.

Kathleen's hand in the writing is pretty recognizeable :)

And I liked how the setup for "jampire" was going on in the background while the "hampire" explanation was happening. Poor Paul. Isn't he already a zombie from when he got killed in p'wnd?

Yeah, it was pretty noticable that Kathleen had a part in this. When it started I was just like, 'Hm, is Kathleen gonna be in this one...?' =D

Really funny guys. One of my faves from the last few weeks.

By the way, I love it that Morgan spends the whole time just pushing his hand back and forth. That's some productive bacon cookery. 8)

Also, I caught that Graham's voice from Hagiography was playing in the background on the TV when Morgan's eating the pork rinds. (Took me a few times listening to that part to catch it.)

Edit - By the way...Do you or Kathleen enjoy Invader Zim...?

"Gaz, taste me, I'm delicious! No one should taste this delicious." Y'know, when he turns into a sausage.

When he turns into balogna?
Yes, we both love Invader Zim, and that was a cleverly placed allusion.

Also: How did you guys know I wrote it?!

Hehe. My director for the plays I'm in is really good friends with the voice of Invader Zim. That means I ALMOST know a celebrity that LRR Likes! :o.

Okay first: Complaints. Not enough camera angles! There was one camera angle the whole time (besides the cuts). Like said before, it wasn't terrible; It was a good angle. But I still think there should have been more angles.

Second: Congratulations. Great one, even with the weird angles. Good cuts, I liked the thing when James went out into the sun. :D

Last: How do you do that cool transition that you guys love? Where the camera like goes to the right, and then..yeah. Is it a Final Cut Pro thing, or what?

I might be stepping on Grahams toes here but Im pretty sure that transition is just the camera being panned left or right extreamly fast. then you hide the cut in the blur.

I was thinking that would work, but I was wondering if it was a FCP thing or if I could do it with iMovie.

I... I hate you guys. I hate you, with the wrath of 1000 dead NES backup batteries. A hampire can be simply cured in saltwater, or by driving a stake through his heart. Preferably sirloin.

It's just a certain...Kind of speech and kind of setting that videos you make tend to have. It can't be easily described. Like, when you compare this video with something like Nuntastic, you can just see similarities in the way everyones talking and how the whole video works out. It's almost a definitive style in how they talk. (I tried to describe it, but if anyone else wants to give it a go, be my guest?)

It's the style of humor. Something that most people would think "What were they smoking when they wrote this?"
I'll just open my pants. We'll have to see what happens.

Other people might just refer to that as "creative" writing.

Stylistic traits of Kathleen? Hmm . . .

There's a kind of energy to the dialogue - and usually a feeling like, WHOAH, how did she think of that? What else . . . a tendency to use amusing words and phrases? Nuntastic! Hampire! Habits for dudes dot com and Al's Malevolent Meats! You also use a wide range of vocabulary.

Keep it up! :D Will there be another Kathleen-skit coming soon?

Depends if I can get something together. I'm usually most creative with others, especially Graham.

You oughta do one with Lisette. Like in the LRRCast for Nuntastic. 8)

Actually, that one was mine. So was Nuntastic.
I just write differently with Kathleen, than with Paul or with Jer or with Bill and Morgan.

Also HMNSHLD nailed the transition. I call it the "whip pan." :D

That's freaking awsome. I'm going to have to start using that (if its okay to rip your special pan?) :D

No worries. I stole it from Simon Pegg's Spaced. A fantastic tv series that has been a major inspiration for me, cinematography-wise.

For reference, I use a 4-frame dissolve at the most blurry point of the pan.
