Ways to Prepare for PAX
Man, PAX is awesome. Are you going? This will help you get ready! Also, that weird sequence in the middle is a reference to something else! What are we parodying?

Awesome stinger, is the Sam Raimi only going to be in stingers for the foreseeable future?
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

Presumably it will be wherever they think it fits best for the flow of the video.

You guys forgot to credit Wil Wheaton, not cool, he drove all the way to the moon to shoot a video with you guys and you forget to put him in the credits. I bet he wont work with you again.

Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
Oh so good.
1) Has Kate inherited the bear hat or something? If so, where will Kathleen's future protection from bears come from?
2) Even if it's not true, I choose to believe that Wil Wheaton always stands like that, at all times. Even when he's sitting down.
3) Kate meeting the Sam Raimi got me wondering, do you guys have a particular cameraperson who regularly does Sam Raimis?
4) Kane and Crowthorne!! Best cameo in a long time.
5) All jokes aside, you guys really do have far too many dice.
6) The Escapist informs me that the strange bit in the middle was in fact a reference to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which I have never seen. I actually think I found it funnier when I didn't understand why it was there.
7) Gabe Newell: King of the Game Developers?
I'm worried that Kane and Crowthorne would blow up every single bus on that route, as well as your home, your regular hangout places, and any friend's place you might want to hide out, just to make sure they did it right.

Exquisite, I figuratively laughed my socks off, especially at Paul's Science.
Have a great time at PAX!

HOW HAS ANYONE IN THIS GENERATION NOT SEEN FERRIS BUELLER?! GOOD GOD!
Seriously, go watch it.
I mean, probably not right now, but you know... when you get a chance.
Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
I guess I don't fully know my devs, and I can't lipread well. I got that the first one is Warren Spector, and the last is Gabe Newell. Who went in the middle?

Depends on what you mean by "this generation", really.
The blog post informs me that you had to be sentient in the early 90s to understand it, and I definitely wasn't that. Also, there are plenty of allegedly great movies that I've never seen. For example, despite my username I only got around to seeing "UHF" last month. And don't even try asking me about the classics...
I am a little ashamed of this, to be honest.

I have not seen it and I consider myself to be part of the same generation as the Crew. However my knowledge of culture is a strange mix.
We are all made of star dust. However we are also made of nuclear waste.

Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
I haven't seen it either, and I'm a bit younger than the crew, but not by much.
Personally, I think the act of shock and disbelief that people haven't experienced the same cultural things that you have is fairly insulting.
Not to mention that screaming about it really doesn't make me want to see it more.

... I have seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off and didn't recognise that reference. Huh.
Either way, woo! Kane and Crowthorne! We need a Mercenary Solutions 4.

Same here. I actually saw it this summer. I knew it was a reference to something familiar, but I had no idea what until I read the comments.
Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
So apparently Gabe is the King. I was so impressed with myself for recognizing him. I just have no idea what game(s) he made.

He's head of Valve.
Now I want to go to PAX. Hopefully The Escapist Expo is as fun as PAX is said to be, but this video has made me look into going to PAX East next year. PAX Prime is out of the question for me though sadly.
Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
For what it's worth, we fully admit that the Ferris Beuller reference is a reach. Like, we absolutely knew we were going to be the outliers for joke-getting.
Having said that, if you haven't seen the movie, it's a lot of fun and quite influential. I'd check it out!

Haha yeah guess I'm showing my age a little bit I wasn't old enough to see the film when it first came out, I saw it a few years afterwards. I guess I just figured most people around my age (+/- a few years anyways) had seen it by this point. First time for everything I suppose!

Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
I saw like half of Ferris Bueller... I've also seen about half of Blade Runner... I need to finish movies sometime.
Graham did the Sam Raimi in "Ways to Do Your Taxes" as shown in the Loading Time for it. However, since he's in shot here, that leaves either Paul or James for this one. Therefore, I believe the answer is no.WAYF wrote:3) Kate meeting the Sam Raimi got me wondering, do you guys have a particular cameraperson who regularly does Sam Raimis?
I'm just sad that Kathleen didn't pack a small pane of glass or a talking clock.Graham wrote:-snip-

Re: Ways to Prepare for PAX
I found the Ferris Bueller bit hilarious even though I didn't get the reference. It's okay to be random.

Oh no... that means they'll hit my fiance's house. That means he'll have to get revenge. That means going after them, their relatives, their dogs, the families that adopted the dog's puppies... it's World War 3! Ahhhhh!
