Re: Desert Power
I was surprised when the video started and it was live-action, as I seem to remember Graham first voicing the idea of the Power parody upon seeing one of the updates to the DB6 poster, with the idea of Matts frump taking centre stag and Graham animating all the separate layers of the poster to slide in.
Very cool though, but of course it's not even it's final form :p

Re: Desert Power
That was the inspiration, yes. But then we decided to do this instead.

Re: Desert Power
Should've had the 'Serge benching pika' gif in the video. =P
Re: Desert Power
We actually recorded Kelly (in the Skyrim helmet) dead-lifting her, but it worked better to use him Dragonshouting and her dancing.MinionStarwind wrote:Should've had the 'Serge benching pika' gif in the video. =P
We also recorded an alt of her where she's just jittery as hell, with a coffee in hand.

Wow. Poor Pika, had something similar happen once with a 5 hour energy and a red bull. Never again!
Re: Desert Power
Are there going to be a loading Time about this video??
There must always be a Stark in the Moonbase

I'm hoping for a DB Loading Time on thursday, but we shall see what we shall see.
BTW, coffee-jitters Pika reminded of me of an Earthworm Jim episode. Hyper Psycrow vs Mellow Jim! The result: cataclysmic!

To emphasize the coffee jitterness, should've had her in all 3 places at once.

If LeeLee were still there at the time you recorded, was Tall Pika (Pika + LeeLee + Trenchcoat) considered for the video?

Re: Desert Power
Wall Plaid I enjoyed this rendition way better than the original. I was hoping for a Desert Bus Les Miserable video but this was just as good. Keep up the good work everyone!

Everyone knows the best GIF to come out of Desert Bus 6 was this one. I for one would have vomited all over the place! Cam has stronger willpower than me.
I, for one, would have been in Fugi's role... calmly eating the rest of the jar while everyone flipped out over it.
I don't take it straight, but I put mayo on a LOT of things. I'm sure I could down a lil' jar like that easy enough...

Well, 'whipped dressing'; mayo itself is kinda heavy to me (must be the yolks instead of just egg whites in Miracle Whip™ and its imitators), but yeah - no allergies and it's not ACTUALLY toxic to humans? I'm putting that one in the grave for ya.
Also,

SO MUCH THIS; curiosity got the better of me and insisted I check out Kanye's creation...uh-huh.
Not bad...a little short...but the tracks seem like they're...missing something...I dunno; I'm not very versant on music, but there's just SOMETHING in your mix that just...I...IT'S JUST BETTER.
Then there's your vocals, to be brutally honest Graham sounds like he actually CARES more about what he's singing than Kanye. And the lyrics are amazing (maybe creativity-by-consensus isn't such a bad thing after all).
As for the visual part of it? Ian...damn; front and center and really rawking the dual-display. Cam, looking suave and awesome as always, Alex with the phone, PAUL!, Beej, Ian again with the bell, Pika, Doctor Andy..fuck, 60,000 characters is NOT enough room to detail everything I love about what you've done with this!
But I actually have a request:
Is your cover/remake available for download/purchase? (the music itself) Or if not, WILL it be?
...because I've been playing the Escapist vid continuously for maybe an hour now - if I had an MP3/4/ogg/etc., I'd be making a single track playlist for endless repeat.
PROPS.

Re: Desert Power
Honestly, Graham's vocals sounded off to me. Maybe it's because I've heard the original so much, but it sounded like Graham was pulling more of a shouting style of rap (like, I dunno, DMX or Bun B). Kanye, on the other hand, sounds more like he's just talking (albeit loudly), which I just think sounds better given what song this is.

That's Jonny lifting the two Apple monitors, not Ian (who is indeed on the auction Bell and Skeletor).
Graham wrote:That was the inspiration, yes. But then we decided to do this instead.
To be honest despite the huge editing workload in making this video, it was likely less work than if you'd had had to go in and add subtle puppetry and movement animations to every layer of the poster, so probably the best call.
Can't wait for the updated version you hope to make that you mentioned on twitter.
Re: Desert Power
Vig is correct, I do tend to go "yell" style.
I'm trying to avoid the mumble-rap we used to do, and I don't enough confidence in my rap voice to NOT yell.
But glad you guys liked it!
(That's Johnny, not Ian, holding the dual monitors. Everyone appears only once, except Ian as Skeletor.)
