Frank Miller's SimCity makes the city much darker than before.

Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
Damn but that was some excellent writing. Very snappy, very clever. I laughed several times at the clever wordplay. And excellent acting by everyone!
My only disappointment was that Paul was the only one with a red accent, which made him look REALLY sharp. Would have been cool if each person had been in black and white, but with one red accent (Kathleen's could have been a brooch, for example, and Graham's could have been his bow tie). But just a stupid nitpick.

Is this the same character from the pizza noir video? Because I love that one, and I love this one too.

I think I'm just going to call someone up and tell them that, just for kicks.Graham wrote:It's me. Send in the giant lizard.
There's actually a red accent on a building on the left at the beginning.AlexanderDitto wrote:red accent
Graham wrote:The point is: Nyeh nyeh nyeh. I'm an old man.

Exactly. That's why I was expecting one red accent in every shot.
It's not a big deal. Maybe they didn't have a red bow tie.
This video is excellent. Definitely going to be a go-to classic LRR video.

Excellent video guys you really did a great job on the writing and the entire film noir feel. I wish I had someone I could just call up to deploy a giant lizard. I have some people that need to be taken care of...

Bravo! Great vid!
Just outta curiosity; which version did you use for the stinger...I haven't played that franchise since the first game.

Graham sure does love his noir voice.
Was the stinger for the benefit of anyone who hasn't played SimCity in a while, and didn't think that "giant lizard" was actually an option?

Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
Great video. I think it really captured the Frank Miller flavor. I especially liked the abrupt change to silhouettes.
Would it have been more amusing if you changed the color accents every time you cut away from a character? Turn Kathleen's eyes blue for a couple seconds, make Jame's badge yellow for a bit, maybe make Graham's vest very briefly Stan the Salesman plaid. Or would it have been too annoying and time-consuming in post-production?
I think all of Frank Miller's works would have benefited from the inclusion of a giant fire-breathing lizard.

Strangely, "giant lizard" stopped being an option past the original. It was a giant robot in 2000 and 4 (forgot if it existed in 3000). Probably those pesky copyright laws getting in the way.

You know, as much as I agree with how shit EA's service has been the past weeke, it's nice to see something about SimCity that isn't just "EA suckes". Thanks, LRR, for keepeing it funny.
Thank you for calling tech support, how can I be the outlet of your misplaced frustrations today?

Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
This was easily one of my favourite LRR videos in recent memory, and an excellent example of how almost every comedy skit benefits from having a straight man in there to question the logic.
Not much else to say, but heaps of praise from me.
Also that, I was expecting something jaded towards the recent game as well.
Mara.

What if Alan Turing came up with the test because he was actually a robot and wanted people to find out?

Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
I was thinking something similar, then I remembered, often it takes time to produce quality videos like this, and there was probably some lead time involved...thus it's entirely possible that LRR had filmed this before SimShittyDRM was released, and was instead working off the hype of the upcoming title...

Quality takes time, but LRR continues to prove that isn't always true. Impressive.

Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
Ah but don't forget Paul invented a time machine, so they can spend ages writing/filming/making it excellent, then jump back in time and release it on the Monday. Makes perfect sense to me

Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
Didn't they loose the time machine hat in the past somewhere?
Re: Frank Miller's SimCity
Kinda wish the last monologue was longer and more foreboding, referring to the giant lizard only as "it."

But then Paul invented the Time Watch and I'm sure at least one of his conflicting iterations still has a working one.Foxmar wrote:Didn't they lose the time machine hat in the past somewhere?

Sadly, I'm just picturing a LOT of greenscreen. Unless we'll get to see some of the LRR crew's SimCity creations of whatever version of the game they like! Yay!
