I guess so. I mean, they've always been a nice bookend to the vids.

I liked the credits. It was nice to see all those involved get recognition.

Anyway good one as always. "Alcohol Abuse" as an excuse for pirate gruffness made me laugh myself silly.

What exactly don't you approve of?

Yeah dude, it's just like YouTube. Plays in a Flash encapsulation. It's a good thing, really.

For some reason it actually loads slower for me than the usual quicktime thingie does. And the widescreen isn't quite as wide as I want it to be. Compared to the other videos. (And for some reason I can't make the screen any bigger.)

It is an insult of sorts, not sure what the exact translation is.

pahtk a Klingon insult, pronounced "pa-TAK" [pe-TAKKH]. (Sins of the Father, Reunion) Romulan admiral Alidar Jarok sees Worf and asks to Riker, "Tell me, how do you allow this Klingon pahtk to walk around in a Starfleet uniform?" (The Defector) The "Klingon" B'Elanna rescues the "Human" B'Elanna from an unpleasant situation and tells her to "Get up, p'tahk!" when she regains consciousness. (Faces) Kor calls Worf "this traitorous p'tak!" (The Sword of Kahless) Worf throws a thief he caught on Odo's desk saying, "This p'tak just robbed my quarters!" (Bar Association) The Doctor's holo-son Jeffrey shouted, "I'm going to become a warrior and I can't do that if I'm being led around on a leash by some bloodless patahk!" (Real Life) Also spelled patahk, p'tak, p'tahk, pah- tak, pahtak and pathk, it is properly petaQ in tlhIngan Hol.

Lol! I loved the video, great job with it, but I just noticed it was posted on Slashdot! Expect some major lag soon... :P However, the scally wags called it a "high-school film reel 'for the less nautically inclined among us.'" Scurvy to the fools!

I also saw it on slashdot.

Haven't posted here in a few weeks, so yoohoo!

I love this video, MUCHLY. I also very much like the Noun-Adjective thing you did, that was brilliant.

The music

Postby fibbin » 16 Sep 2006, 15:38

Great video, this reminded me of all the poorly edited low-budget education films I had to watch in the 80's as a kid. I'm surprised so much work went into something so silly.

I loved the music Nate Dorr did for this piece. Can I get it anywhere without the vocals?

You guys already probably know this but your site was mentioned on Slasdot yesterday for this video and is still on the front page right now. I'm sure it is the reason why the site is a little sluggish right now. http://slashdot.org/articles/06/09/16/204204.shtml

Good good stuff guys!!

At the end I thought Matt was going to tell Jer that Pirates Day was yesterday, but I guess my powers of prediction have failed me.

A couple times it was a little slow, but definetly got a good chuckle from me :)

we actually did come up with that as a possible ending, but decided to play it straight.

Indeed!
We figured that having a "joke" ending would sort of ruin how the video otherwise takes itself very seriously.

Im surprised no one has compared the style of this vid to the Lost Hanso films. Yeah I know those films and this one are going for that 50's education film, but they seem so much the same. I think the big thing is the freaky music and the color scheme.

Or I just have Lost on the brain, as I finished rewatching the season 2 DVDs.

Or maybe Graham is really J.J. Abrams, and we are all part of some experiment....with polar bears and hatches. *cue dramatic close up and music in the style of Mexican soap operas*

ARRR!! Yes, I finally set it up so that it loaded all the way before watching it! (took about 45 minutes). And it was FANTASTIC.
I loved it, and I can't wait till tomorrow. it was cool because we had an announcement about ITLAP Day on the loudspeaker during class today.

But yes a few things about revver that I REEALLY don't like.
Loading takes 45 minutes as opposed to 3.
It's no longer in a big widescreen window, its in a tiny one.
I can't change the volume inside the pop-up box, I have to reach over to get to my speakers to turn them down (which is a bitch to do)

Anywho, I LOVED IT! Great job!

Also Nate, that was excellent music, good job on that.

That's just you, and I don't know why, but I'm sorry to hear it.

We're working on making it bigger, sorry.

Yeah, that just sucks. Agreed.

Looks like you picked the right movie to put on Revver, letting them take the slashdotting instead of you.
