I wish there was the Cobrastan guy in there, though. He was just so ridiculous.

Secret tech: in an early draft of the script, the sketch ended with the guard waving through a clearly ridiculous guy spouting nonsense, a la the Cobrastan guy, the implication being the guard would only let you through if you were completely nuts, but that weakened the immigration is down premise, so I cut him. Plus, as fun as it is to write a character that spouts random nonsense, I think they're funnier in my head than they are in person. Also the script was already too long at that point, so I murdered THAT darling.

Huh, I didn't know youse guys hads a Twitch channel to watch too. So many contents!

And the video made me want to play Papers Please, so that's good. That's good, right? I mean I'm not sure the game is, in the moral sense, good.

Wow, that's a great video. Great writing, and really funny performances by everyone.

In particular, the part was just perfect for Andy. Did he just happen to be around that week, or did you guys have to send away for him? Hope he shows up to this year's Desert Bus.

I guess I have to go download this game now...

I really want Andy's border guard to do a scene with the ticket agent from Kafka International Airport

Andy;s boarder guard needs to return for Rapid Fire. Just have him in different locations turning people away. Fast food drive threw, doctors office.

Seconded! I can just see it now, cinema, nightclub, restaurant, the possibilities are endless!

(Much like wait for state housing in Arstotska.)

In Arsotzka, dog spots you. And sends you to dark room. NEXT!

...apologetic. ;)

Oh, GAWD this was magnificent.

I basically only got half the video the first time, then rewatched it and tried to not laugh over all the subtleties...damn you, Andy!

...in the end I think I had to watch it four times to get it all!

Great writing Alex"!

Great setting, and great 'applicants' everyone.

And Andy?

Jumping Jesus what do I say that does this magnificence justice?

I, too, am in favour of 'Checkpoint Andy' showing up in the next season of Rapidfire! Alex" - is there anything I can do to help make it possible for you to be a contributing writer for same said upcoming series?

This HAS to happen. Image

I would, of course, if they asked me (I'd do almost anything LRR asked me to, so... ;D).

Though honestly 1. since the sketch was inspired by/revolves around a specific game, I'm not sure including it in Rapidfire makes sense, 2. Andy's around so rarely getting him in a Rapidfire is probably prohibitively difficult, and 3. even if they did, I'm sure LRR could do a bang-up job writing more crazy border crossing guard Andy in the same spirit without my help, like they did with Pocket Planes. <3

Something I noticed when rewatching: in the establishing shot, we see a figure walking out of the terminal, into Arstorzka soil. What did that person do to pass?

He was just as crazy as the crossing guard. ;D

The real reason I'm bumping this old thread is this:

I am so, so proud of this video. I think it's wonderful. But what the heck happened in mid March that caused this views spike??? Was it because Lucas Pope won a BAFTA? Or something else?

I mean, I've watched it a lot... but not THAT much... :P

There was talk in the chat about Pika planning to do a stream of Papers, please (but getting distracted with the sidequest of "getting Xsplit to work properly" :P ); maybe that drummed up interest?

Possibly. Does Pika get 1000s of viewers when she streams? Those two spikes were in the 1000s of views.

She does not. She didn't even get the stream working. I think this has roots elsewhere.
