Professional Stabbists

Postby Graham » 06 Sep 2014, 23:54

If you train hard, and practice every day, you too can move up the ranks from amateur stabbery. Find out how with this week's video: Professional Stabbists.

Um, Kathleen... what dark place did this come from?

This reminds me of the high school game "assassination," just with real-life assassination.

I think this was inspired by the name of one of the twitch subs. Great romp from weird, to silly to insanity! Especially loved Cameron showing up at the end and just gesturing at the camera to cut (to a bleached white skeleton :D).

That skeleton don't look very white to me. :p

I laughed a lot nonetheless. Finally a sport where remorseless backstabbing to advance your own career is made possible.

I must say I was particularly freaked out by the station's own test card.

Well, that sure was a thing. Somehow, I'm not sure it's the kind of sport where you end up with a lot of pro/veteran stabbists living to a ripe old age and acting in terrible commercials for terrible products. I don't really know how to feel about that.

Nicely done though. Had to turn down the volume for all the screaming, which is probably a good thing for a change.

This is likely the first time I saw the name of a sketch and thought "Yup, Kathleen wrote this one." I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

I agree this got a little creepy. If only because of the very real looking skeleton and patricide at the end. But it was a pretty good video. Gave me a few good chuckles.

I was disappointed by the lack of references to Caesar and the stabthescope.
Still, the video was quite stabby :D

FTFY ;)

Great vid! Yeah, the screaming+headphones was not a wonderful combo, but given the circumstances, it was totally not gratuitous or unnecessary. Also, on the plus side, my bad hearing minimized the discomfort.

I'm seeing this here and on the YouTube comments and I feel out of the loop: What's the deal with "bleached white skeleton?" Is that a thing?

Oh, and great video. As (mostly) usual.

It's something Alex came up with during his streaming. I've watched all of it and am still not completely sure the genesis of it.

This got better as it went on. The classic "refuge in absurdity" comedic trope. It felt a little uncomfortable at first, being just a kind of weird idea, but as it got more and more absurd and the reactions got more and more extreme, it got funnier and funnier, ending with the complete ridiculousness of the celebration, massive screaming, and people in the background coming out on stage trying to cut the tape early.

I would like to hear more of the "Technical Difficulties" music. It's very soothing. :)

Alex just likes the idea, and many of his crapshot scripts end with "smash cut to a bleached white skeleton" (a prop LRR currently lacks).
