The Secret Life of Toast

Postby Paul » 07 Sep 2007, 11:41

Another video inspired by an idea on the Video Suggestion forum. See! We do actually read it!

No toast was harmed in the making of this movie...except for the one that fed the ducks and the ones James and Matt ate. Luckily, Toast has a good stunt double.

Nice idea

Postby Casandro » 07 Sep 2007, 12:14

Nice idea making it as a "silent movie" without spoken dialogue and only movie,

but I have to disappoint you, the idea of having bread-based characters is in no way new. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernd_das_Brot

Anyhow great idea, fabulously done.

Casandro:Yeah, Bernd is great. Too bad my german is rather lousy, so I didn´t understand all of it. What surprised me though is the fact, that it is like a 1 hour (maybe 2, don´t remember) loop.

Toast is a good video, not the best one though. I liked the music, liked the ending and the begining. That part in the middle was rather boring and repetitive. Put together - fine.

Brilliant. I loved it. An epic tale of Toast.
LRR doesn't even need words to be funny.

Shooting this video must have been fun ... so many different locations.
And talking to toast while being filmed is definitively up there on the list for looking totally crazy in public

Damn wife beater Toast!

Also, didn't Graham hated to use the word "sophomore" when applied to records? O_o

That was fantastic. I love how the 'Music Store' was actually EB Games though. XD

And you forgot to put Ben in the credits.

But yeah, it gave me the rofls. Good stuff.

And Korri, I would think they used different toast and Matt did the bus scenes all at once.

Points of note:

  • The nightstand that Matt's clock is on has a little sticker or tag that says "Ducky's Table". Uh, what?
  • The newspaper was actually typed out with silly stuff like "On The Loose: Zombies" and whatnot. Nice attention to detail. Also, the second newspaper, after the marraige bit, features a second, much more legible zombie article.
  • The Recording Contract, however, looks kinda like the top bit that says "Recording Contract" was just taped on. Interesting that the actual document was in Latin.
  • Looks like the thief was Morgan. Definately Morgan.
  • In the shot of the toast, right after the tripped thief looks back over his shoulder, whatever you propped the toast up with is visible.
  • Is the key to the city like a Kingdom Heats keychain or something?
  • Threadless product placement! The Communist Party, which has appeared before

Clearly Graham was not completely involved in the writing since he hates the term Sophomore album.

One of the odds videos to date. I will by pass judgment cause I have no idea what the heck I just saw but keep doing it.

Just because Graham doesn't like the term, doesn't mean he wouldn't have a newspaper in one of his videos use it. He's not using it himself, the fictional editors of a fictional newspaper in a fictional world are.

Goodness gracious, sometimes you just have to use your imagination. You don't gotta nitpick.

I enjoyed the music for this video. It's on Revver, so it's original, but it doesn't sound digital, so you had some help. Who did the music? Jer, if you like, we an put together a gang, and go take care of Toast if you like. I'm sure he won't show his face again after we're done with him.

EDIT: The credits say Graham and Paul were in the video....where?

I wondered who came up with this one. I was watching it, and through my laughter, was thinking "who is damaged enough to do a video like this?" Not to say that i didn't abslolutely love it. It was really wacked out.

And i know that this was the point, but:

getting a key to the city for stopping a robber, meeting a cute girl, dating said girl, getting discovered, getting a record contract, hitting number one on the charts, winning an award for said album, proposing to girl, moving in together, recording another album, watching that one flop, getting dropped from record lable, developing a heavy coke addiction, becoming an alcoholic, beating fiancee, watching her run away (with rye), drinking away sorrows, waking up in a ditch, and returning to birthparent...

ALL in what seems like ONE DAY. And Morgan still can't do a Whatever update? Wow. Just...wow.

I guess now we can look to all you slackers and say "You're so lazy, TOAST does more in one day than you do in a week."

Though come to think of it, the only blow to the ego that would have been worse is if she ran off with a chocolate croissant. Friggin FRENCHIES!
