Ways to Ruin a Job interview

Postby Paul » 16 Nov 2007, 13:34

It's been a while since the last X ways to Y, so we figured we were due.

A local business who were very friendly and cooperative, but didn't especially want their name in the video. Understandably so, I'd say!
Great location though!

Ehhh.

I think it's a little long, and faces the flaws that several X ways to Ys do- the joke is told, then showed. Matt's brilliant, though specially when he's a team player.

Matt is a violent little bugger.
The undressed Matt was a quite predictable joke.
Isnt Nathan an assistant manager at the Rogers that Morgan works at?

Nice to see an X ways to Y again, and a thanks for a early uptime on the video! i was beginning to worry about there not being a Sam Raimi. I liked that in the beginning scene you made the X ways to Y music sound like it was the background music of the store. Well done.

I would not hire Matt on the basis of not being able to see the clipboard after being blinded by his nudity.

Tad long, but good vid nonetheless. Nice to see Matt develop as an "actor".

i didn't erally like this weeks video, those titles definately intruded on to the video and some of them were too fast to read, or too fast to read and understand before seeing the sketch parts. also what was going on with the music at 4:40?

I was thinking: where's the Sam Raimi? and then, you delivered!

Awesome video, I laughed a lot XD

Props to Matt for his fist based solutions, I'll make sure to implement that at my job.

The music did a weird cut at about 4:40. But other than that, pretty good!

Ouch. Lots of negative comments about the vid. Like Paul said, you guys haven't done an X ways to Y in a while and personally I liked the vid. I do agree that it was a tad overlong but I loved the fact you professionalized Matt's jobs.

Beautiful job!

I unfortunately do have to echo the comments that the vid was just a tad long, but all the jokes were well-executed. Plenty of giggles from up North.

The "Prior Experience" one really had me laughing - Excellent framing with Matt constantly in the exact same spot in the frame between scenes.

Really, just excellent use of Matt. Again.

The weird cut in the music was to ensure that the video ended just as the music did, seeing as they looped it five or six times.

I realize this, I was just ciriticizing the fact that the loop was a little sloppy. Not to be horribly critical or anything, hopefully it is constructive.

It's great to see another X Ways to Y!
Even in it's new format, I thought it was good. I liked the style of it, and that you guys varied it a little so it wasn't the same old format, but I actually quite like how the other X Ways to Y were done. The paper/checks works very well in this skit, but I honestly prefer the old way of freezing the frame, *ding* <Caption>, playing it again. I missed the *dings* the most, I'd say, the interruptions of the paper weren't really too bad. Bring back the *dings*!
Also, like said before, 4:40 just killed me. I realize you probably tried to avoid it, but blech :X

PS: the sound editing at the beginning was VERY good. Is it an effect in Final Cut Pro/Soundtrack, or did you guys go ahead and bring a CD Player into the office with the X Ways to Y song? Either way, I liked it a lot.

I've never been a real fan of the X ways to Y and I cant say this did much to change my mind.

Something about the predictability of most of the jokes, they just didn't seem very original or clever.

Although I did like the acting and the fact that you went out of your way to not give Nate a speaking role (by way of hand gestures in the opening dialog)

Another fine X ways to Y in my book! I was on the brink of giggling the entire time (manly giggling, mind) and the Sam Raimi just made me lose it.

I especially loved Nathan's facial expressions every time something went wrong and he checkmarked it on his clipboard. So very subtle, but his subdued nonchalance made everything even more hilarious.

A strong and thoroughly enjoyable video! Thanks for another week of silly grins and laughter!

This is probably the most active I've ever seen Matt. I approve.

Nathan also performed well, as others have noted. An all-around excellent effort. The theme music-turned-Musak was also very funny and subtle.

Was Graham wearing the pink shirt again? What is it with corporate environs and that shirt?

Matt was great for this role! I would have expected a part with so many crotch-jokes to go to Morgan normally.

Hey, was this shot in James' father's store?
