Fun with Microwaves

Postby Paul » 10 Mar 2008, 10:36

We haven't done a Sheer Stupidity in a while, but microwaves are so cool!

That being said, for liability purposes we should probably say that you shouldn't try this at home. Especially not in a microwave that you plan on using afterwards.

OMG FIRST

Okay, now I need to find a expendable microwave to put some soap into... that's too awesome not to try!

For future reference, if you heat up a glass bottle and microwave it, you can get it to melt.

Also, having done my fair share of microwave "science", I totally appreciate the awesome of this video.

Ohh that reflector lamp must have evaporated the metal and it condensed right away after you turned it off.

The soap is usefull as it won't sink in water anymore after it got expanded. It's actually the water inside the soap that boils and expands.

Same is with the marshmellow.

It's good that you unplugged the microwave before extinguishing it's content. Might have been dangerous otherwise.

Ohh, BTW, there is one potential danger to the microwave. There is a imedance missmatch when you put things inside which do not take the energy, so in a way the wave going out of the magnetron bounces off the walls (or lack of walls) and goes right into it again.

Ok, that was incredible. A++. Gold Stars. Shine Get. One does not walk into Mordor. Over 9000.

Why does it always turn out that my favorite videos tend to be the Sheer Stupidity vids? All the Bill Eats Gross Things vids, Caroling on Halloween, Sleep Dep, Condoms... Maybe it's just me.

Seems like you could have found more things to microwave, but I'll forgive you because of the marshmellow christmas wonderland. And the defective fire extinguisher.

Although true I don't think that would help with liability =P

that was awesome. I love sheer stupidity, and shiney sparks/fires in microwaves make it all the more better.

The only light show I've ever done in a microwave was a CD, but put simply, its rubbish compared to Christmas a la Microwave.

Furbies must die

Postby Shandi » 10 Mar 2008, 11:51

My favorite part was the quick opening of the door and tossing in the colorful indoor christmas lights, and the never ending pile of marshmallows.
Yay for ridding the world of evil Furbies!!!

Oh Em Gee!! That was so awesome. I didn't know soap and marshmallows expanded in the microwave, nor that you could have a fully functioning christmas tree in your microwave without ever needing to plug the thing in (until something burns down).

I like how fast the Furby shorted out, and there was a satisfying spark to let you know it happened. :) Stupid fuzzballs.
