Which cut specifically?

Specifically the cut at 3:46. Now that I think on it, it stood out in my mind because the previous shot or the office was all done in the same take and fallowed the ball very well.

It was a rather good video.

I--like everyone else--being a call center veteran, found this video totally awesome. Kate made me want to go play Portal. The ending was pure gold.

My only complaint: the noise reduction artifacts during the office scenes were very distracting. I'd recommend trying a noise gate instead, or maybe a little bit of both if you can.

I just started working in a call centre (a government one, not a commercial one - so our aim is to help people, not to make money out of people). I felt it was very appropriate that I decided to watch this one on my way to work today.

Of course our call centre is not like that one.

(Side note: I've become really paranoid ever since I began working for the government).

Government?
Helping people?

By the way, loved the video.
I was half expecting Matt to be bottom naked when he closed the fridge, based on last week's podcast.
I liked how you segued from the LRR logo to the video.
Morgan in another major role! Yay! He should be in the podcast. I miss him. He never calls any more *sigh*

Okay, I'm working right now at the commons desk where our mailroom is. I've told you all this before. Well guess what I just had to do. Put papers into everyone's mailboxes. The person before me told me that they were absentee ballots for the PA Primary, as provided by Penn State Students for Barack Obama. I looked at them, thinking, "Oh, people just can come pick them up if they ask for them. But no, these are just applications for the absentee ballot. What's worse is that on average, the absentee ballots don't even get counted unless a race is too tight to call.

Barack Obama can smoke my cock.

 Heh - good one. "help people" *rofl*

Yes, you're exactly right about the last bit, but that don't logically mean that the supposition just before it has to be true.

As you stated, you've just started; I'd say check back with us in a year or so, but you're working in a gov't call centre, which will accelerate things immensely. I'll PM you in may and see how you feel then.

But before your transformation into a soft green semi-precious stone, chat with a few of the senior bureaucrats around there - I mean the ones with the longest service, not the highest ranking. You'll find that public service is a great place for someone to burrow into and make a nest to hide from the world for at least a lifetime; even better than academia. ("Tenure is for pussies!" ;) )

I felt it was very appropriate that I decided to watch this one on my way to work today.

Of course our call centre is not like that one.....yet.

Fixed.

The only reason I took the second CSR jig was because Robbers was opening up a brand spanking-new centre that was free of all the pseudo-bureaucratic b.s. that builds up over time, and it was first-party (company itself dealing directly with the customers and not fobbing them off on a third-party "Customer Management Company").

It WAS nice and honest for about the first year - people genuinely wanted to help customers, and if you needed assistance, the higher-ups actually took effort to sort things out instead of 'formulate a memo to notify regional headquarters of a possible issue'.

Over time, the VP who apparently just goes around and runs centres when they open up to get them 'on their feet' left for a new CC opening in Sherbrooke, and we got real aperatichiks for management, and the place started filling up with malcontents, slackers and incompetents for line-agents.

It pretty much was like the video by the time I left. :(

Evil Jim said (in part):
I see Graham gets sole writing, shooting & editing credit. Nice work, Big Man.

Then Matt responded:
wha? BULLLLLLSHIT. I was on camera for his bits.

Then Evil Jim replied:
Ahh, I see appropriate credit has now been given on the video page. Good Man!

FIX'D.

The throwing of the ball around was a nice touch. Hot potato!

I'm curious who was chugging what, exactly, when they put Graham on hold. I imagine it was either Ash chugging peanut butter, or Morgan chugging bees. That's how hardcore they are.

Hilarious. For the first bit, I thought everyone had an Xbox ball. It was only after I saw the "cubicles" close together that I realized there was just one. And everyone leaves in the middle of a call to play Chug-a-lug? Interesting.

I think the best thing relating to a phone subject was a "Suicide Phone" on a bridge. They put these things there for Crisis Counseling so people won't jump.

Funny thing was, this particular one was "Temporarily Out Of Service". If I find the pic, I'll post it.

having worked 4 years in inbound call centers (2 years for cell phones) I can tell you this is exactly how it works, including the robot dance. only thing is I have always worked in call centers with thousands of employees so you don't get to see the other departments :p

Interestingly enough, ever since I started working for the government, I've become a lot less paranoid. I now know from firsthand experience that there's no way anyone involved is organized enough to pull off any conspiracies :)

Monday I was on the phone with Comcast when my wife came downstairs and said "Have you seen LRR yet today? You'll find it appropriate"

AND I DID!

Okay, it's a wonderfully done video, but I can't help but notice...

The automated system is voiced by Kate, Graham's sister. At the end of the video, Graham apologizes to the picture of the automated system as if he is apologizing for a lover's quarrel. So it makes it look like Graham is in love with his sister...'s voice.

I'm reading too much into this, but doesn't that seem a little... odd?

Yeah, you see the exclamation point at the end of Kate's username means she's with Allen!
