I used to watch Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo, where celebrities would play Hold 'Em, and the hosts were Dave Foley and some hold 'em expert. After watched that I could never get into any other poker show.

Does being famous automatically preclude you from being good at a game?

If it's being shown on cable television, ususally the answer is yes.

Example: Shannon Elizabeth from American Pie, she is now a professional poker player, and for the most part, never appears on those kinds of shows, though she is seen as a celebrity.

Probably like Fox and Fox News Channel.

According to the clips shown, it was shot at the old Frontier. Ref. my earlier post. It no longer exists. Imploded. plowed to the ground. Now a level dirt playing field. So sad. Gilley's went byebye and I miss that bar.

No, no they weren't, but they were funny to watch, for the most part.

As a poker fan(one who actually plays, a lot. Any kind), this was great. Sometimes the announcers do get a bit impenetrable, but I promise, the words have meaning. Mostly referring to the nicknames for the public cards and possible hands.

Don't you mean a shirt with all the public cards and pants with "UNOOOOOO!!!!" on it would be more appropriate? :P

Up on the wiki?

Postby ecocd » 28 Jan 2009, 15:07

Is a script up on the wiki? I'm not too familiar with the wiki so I might be missing it. Based on Graham's Twitter feed it looks like he's been plenty busy the past few days so I could understand if he hasn't had time to get it up there.

Upon a second viewing of the video, making a rule set for Viking Secret Wildcard Poker will be more difficult than I originally anticipated.

It's been slow going here for that too. I think we'll use the multipliers as stated earler on this thread by Re'ozul.

Re'ozul wrote:I still say that Asmadi gave elway a slightly better chance due to providing him with a non-affricate hand.
Not to mention that in the beginning, diamonds are a girls best friend, while a joker has limited use for a club.

I still have to congratulate elway for actually going all the way to a gargle-play.
Not that he had much joice, trailing as he was, but a pure flip-play would have netted him only around 11billion, resulting in himstill trailing by a good 17 billion because as we all know the stacking multipliers are:
spin: x2
alpha: x3
double indemity: x5
splish: x7
splash: x11
twist: x13
flip: x17
gargle: x19.

Thanks by the Way Re'ozul. I may be stealing those <.<.

It's not up yet, when it is it will be clearly linked on the video page, in the synopsis section. Or at least it will be soon after Graham uploads it. He can just copy and past it directly on to the page, and then one of the editors will move it on to it's own page and set it up.

Thanks to Graham and The Amativeness, the script is now on the wiki, and can be found on it's own page here.

Well... I've been watching it since Monday & it's one of the very few videos that I didn't really care for. Not being a fan of televised poker or any competitive event coverage doesn't help me either. I thought certain aspects were quite funny like using Magic: The Gathering, UNO & other cards, but the running commentary of gibberish was pretty much like that of any other sport I don't typically watch. It was funny, but not really in a laugh-out-loud kind of way. It did however, remined me of Fizzbin from Star Trek: The Original Series.

Elway's initial introduction seemed to run on long, all the way through Lamont's video clip who, being the newcomer, seemed should have had the longer intro.

It was fun to see Sir Robin's Minstrels played. When the game came out it seemed like I was the only one who ever bought those cards. I still have a huge collection of meticulously organized Monty Python & the Quest For the Holy Grail Collectible Card Game cards boxed up in a duffel bag, in my basement. Maybe in 30 years they'll be worth something.

Anyway, Poker Before Dusk wasn't my favourite video but it seems like a lot of people enjoyed it regardless & that's good to see.

You pretty much were the only one whoever bought them. They were so expensive and I found them while I was a freshman in college. How was I supposed to afford those?

Instead, I bought boxes of Doctor Who CCG cards, because they were super cheap. Worst CCG ever. So bad it was good. Well, no, not really. Just so bad.
