Y'know... if you boil down that show to its plot. It's really not that weird. Just the presentation is.

I agree with this.

Also, 12oz Mouse is not funny. It is just bizarre for the sake of being bizarre, and is crap because of it.

I think of these things.

As a fledgling LRR geek I definitely appreciate that, but if that thought process isn't made (sufficiently) clear to the viewer, it kind of doesn't count, y'know?

I guess most people got it or didn't care, though, so maybe it doesn't matter. :)

I thought it was fairly obvious when I saw it (too much so to bring up). After all, if there was a bomb, somebody had to plant it.

I know what you mean, but oftentimes when you're writing you have to think of things that won't show up on-screen, just to clarify (even if it's only to yourself) why certain things are the way they are.
It's a bigger thing than you might think.

But still, yeah, sometimes that doesn't come across.

I don't really think it even needed to come across, as, as you said, it was a layered punchline.

As I said, there was a lot of subtlety in this script that was fun to work around.

Not one of my favourite videos for sure. The pacing was not as good as I've come to expect either. I loved the punchline at the end, but I felt that the car explosion felt really forced, and it took me a minute to figure out it was being implied. Overall my friend and I who watch the new video every week before Heroes, were left with a very strong "oh well, can't be perfect EVERY week" feeling.

In hindsight, we totally forgot to hit up Unskippable afterwards :(

Oh, I remember why... there was a really annoying ad that started playing right afterwards, and I immediately closed the browser, and then forgot I still had stuff to watch :(

Oh well, 2 next week for us :D

Well they make things extremely disturbing when you mention fumes and insanity together.

Fun fact with this video: after we finished we were going to go see the Miyazaki flicks downtown, but I couldn't go because I had a dinner party to go to with friends getting married.

Maybe I am out of practice, but I didn't even realize there had been an explosion until I game a read the forums!

I, too, spent the whole video trying to figure out what the catch would be, but was pleasantly surprised at the end with the turnaround.

Yes, you are out of practice when you see a bright light, abrupt scene change, and hear a loud blast, and don't think "explosion!"

I've been watching LRR for quite a few years now, and I have to say I'm still unsure how I feel about this one. While watching, it felt a little awkward and I was honestly a little disappointed with the acting (but maybe I should watch it again keeping in mind everyone's actual intentions). The bomb at the end disturbed me a little, which is odd considering how completely desensitized I am when it comes to violence. I guess it just wasn't something I expected from LRR. However, intellectually speaking, I think this video is brilliant. It seems to be doing exactly what great art achieves to do: it gives people very unexpected emotions. In fact, I believe a lot of artists strive to make people feel uncomfortable and disturbed. It gets us away from formulaic, mainstream, brainwashing, pop culture. I don't think this would have been possible without the bomb at the end. Also, it is sooooo obviously a Kathleen video!! Keep up the interesting work!

I liked it, though it took some getting used to. I could tell it was a Kathleen-written video as soon as it started, though. Just has her particular flavor of crazy.

Which half?

Among other parts, the overall idea of people awkwardly trying to claim ignorance of the masks on their face.
And the triple-layer punchline.

But bisecting the video by joke is no fun. Basically the whole thing was written by both of us at the same time, so I can't really say "I wrote the first half" or anything like that.

I'm just saying, I have a 50% stake in this video's weirdness.

Of course I know that :P

But my friend and I have a routine for Monday's and I don't want to be mean and watch it without her. Monday is "watch the internet before watching Heroes" day... mostly we watch LRR stuff, but sometimes other things like Yugioh The Abridged Series, and Dragonball Z Abridged, and a few other ongoing shows.

That was good! Jason and I need to pull something like this. Get those guest numbers down damnit! Except perhaps the exploding car bit. I think most of ours would be sufficiently off-put by the antics, so it wouldn't be required.

Is it just me or does Kathleen look like a cancer patient in the thumbnail shot? I mean the hair slicked back makes her look like she has really short hair, like it fell out and is now growing back. That plus the masks really looks ill.

I thought that as well and assumed it was the hair and the dark clothing.
