Buttstallation

We wrote this video a long, long time ago and finally got around to shooting it.
Yes, it's weird, but Kathleen is not entirely to blame for the weirdness this time. Also, weird is good in my book. Well, it can be.

Paul was out of focus for so long :(
I liked it though. Paul's a good straight man.

and then, you know. the rest of it. etc.

I'm sorry Graham, you're going to need a complete overhaul back here.

Big fan of the fact that the google ad at the end was for 'enhancing butt pads'

I am so confusedly amused.
Enjoyable.

I think this video does deserve the adjective Pythonesque.

i dont quiet know what to make of this vid... it was like you threw a really awesome concept into the same video as a completely silly one (for reference the outbreak of philosophy is the awesome concept). Despite the complete randomness of this i still found the vid pretty funny. Not one of the most coherent one though.

Funny in a weird way. At first I thought the news cast was going to be about buttstalations but then it segued into "Philosophy." Also ending? Awesome.

^What he said. Faux news and stopping a sketch for being too silly? But (no pun intended), I am slightly worried about Paul's structural stability...

Man, that work order looks suspiciously like a script. :P

In other news, this video hits disturbingly close to home. The philosophy part, not the butt part.

Crips. : )

It was even better on the screen than on the page! Bravo.

I would have rather seen buttstallation continue. I wonder what Railing would do on a butt... I could understand adding on. What kind of wallpaper would you put on a butt? I have no clue, it is kinda like pondering what tattoo you would put on your butt. Are there people with just butt tattoos? Wallpapering your butt, A bad idea.

As for the philosophy stuff, eh. Made me smile not so much laugh.

At first I was like "Well, theres alot of cast members in what seems to be a 3 or 4 person sketch" then "Yup, LRR has finally jumped the shark" and then "What the hell is going on?" to "Oh man, this is some of their wittiest stuff" to some mild dissapointment upon reading this thread and noticing Monty Python has already ventured into this territory.

Still, solid vid overall.

And yes, He-man does belong with Huxley, Cummings and Hawking.

We liked both concepts, but as I recall, neither were long enough to spin out into a whole sketch.

That was only part of it. I also really wanted to try having a sketch dissolve partway through and jump to something else.
The philosophy part was actually written after that decision as a second half, so it wasn't just plugged in because we couldn't use it for a full video (though it could have worked on its own, unlike the first half).

This was funny. I'm sorry I have a juvenile sense of humor, but it is funny when Paul says, "it would make it considerably harder to poop". Also, the complete change of the video threw me. I didn't quite understand what a story about a philosophy gang had to do with guys installing butts. You guys eventually tied it together, but I don't see how the two were paired to begin with. Also, the knitters would totally win the turf war, we have sharp pointy sticks! Mwahahaha.

I am trying soooo hard not to come up with an explanation and diagrams for butt installation right now...

...That was...huh...ummmmm...yeah. The title had me kinda thinking it was a sequel to Installation Anxiety.

Oh, and Graham, you clearly are in need of an 'It's over 9000!' forum badge for all your posts.

Ah the surreality. I don't think its one of your better videos, but its certainly high up there on the "strange" scale. While I know it was the point, I found the switch from pure silliness to pure straight-satire jarring, and they didn't fit well together.

Though I'm really not sure what else it could have been, perhaps there would have been something better for it to segue into.

That it goes right into philosophy seems too derivative of Monty Python...

Well to extend the buttstallation joke, you could have had them bring their portfolio of work (assuming one was an archetectural engineering professional), such as showing pictures of butts with scaffolding and structural additions (clothed of course).

And as silly as this sketch was, I personally would need the services of two butt contractors. Mine is too unstable, and I'm afraid that it's getting close to collapsing in on itself. (Seriously. I have no ass.)

Awesome. Loved it to bits. Do more of these. Not to cast any influences or anything, but structurally, it seemed a lot more like a Mr. Show sketch than a Python one.

"There is nothing new under the sun."

Monty Python doesn't have a copyright on being random, even if the randomness extends to the actual state of the skit itself instead of just its content. They may be famous for it, but that doesn't mean that no one else gets to experiment with the idea. Hell, if LRR had wanted to make the video more Python-esque they would have cut to a Viking shouting "AND THEN THIS HAPPENED!" or something before the philosophy bit.

Though I do recall a skit or two ending abruptly with someone saying "Nope, nope, this is too silly..."
