Are you crazy? (or "Something we can all agree on")

Postby King Kool » 13 Sep 2009, 17:36

Here's a little experiment I wanna run. I'm going to list a fairly well-known movie that I hated, and the next person who posts here HAS to have liked the movie. They will say something to the effect of "Are you crazy? I loved (that movie)! But I hated (A different movie that they actually hated)!" And then the next person who posts has to hate THAT movie.

This is to either find something we all agree on, or to demonstrate how even things lots of people like can have haters.

To keep this orderly, PLEASE don't debate the virtues of what some people hate in this topic, and please don't post unless you hated the thing the last poster posted. Also, let's avoid repeating movies or super-obscure movies that you're the only one who would've seen it.

Movies We All Agree On (So Far):
The Other Sister

To start:

I hated John Q!

Edit: Cybren pointed out I wrote the rules wrong, but they seem to be going along the way I meant.

Whoops. I wrote the rules wrong, but they're doing it right so far.

Anyway:

Metcarfre hated Eagle Eye! What say you?

ARE YOU UNINTELLIGENT? Eagle Eye was a fantastic action-thriller with plot twists and clever commentary on society.

Now a truly awful movie is Saw.

I hate most horror movies, and from what I saw of SAW, it's just gore for gore's sake.

I liked Saw. It's not gore for gore's sake. I can't speak for the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, etc... but I went into Saw expecting gore gore gore, and there's truthfully not a lot of it. I liked it. Not in my top 10 movies, not my top 100, but it was enjoyable and had some good twists.

I hated Across The Universe

ARE YOU NUTS!? Accross the Universe was a visually stunning and intellectually captivating tribute to the music of the beatles.

I hated Miami Vice.

ARE YOU CRAZY? Miami Vice was an awesome adaptation of the TV series!
You know what movie I really hate?
Cradle 2 the Grave

I have an odd feeling we are claiming a movie is great just to keep the game going..
Seriously Matt? you like that movie?

I fucking LOVED accross the Universe. The visuals were unbelievably rad.

and Miami Vice rates to this day as te only movie I've ever considered walking out of half-way.

The only reaon I didn't was because I was there with friends and didn't want to ruin it for them...

I found out after the film that THEY had all been thinking about leaving too.

Christ that movie was incompetent on every level.

(I've never actually seen Across the Universe, but couldn't think of[/didn't want to rack my brain to think of] another controversial movie, so I went with that. For the record.)

Dude, don't do that. Only movies that you actually saw.

I didn't think I had to put that in the rules. (though it seemed to work out...)

Cradle 2 Grave?

An aside, I just bough Across the Universe today because I absolutely love it!

As for the rest of the movies mentioned, I actually haven't seen any of them... so... someone else has to comment on Cradle 2 Grave

edit: I lied, I saw Eagle Eye...

I think the consensus is that people either haven't seen Cradle to the Grave or agree that it's shit. If I am wrong, then speak up.

I will start with another movie then...

I hated Twilig...nope that's a general consensus of "shitty"...

I hated The Ring. I am not a fan of horror at all, but I sat through a good bit of the Ring.

Seriously? I loved The Ring! Even if it's not the best horror movie ever I found it totally compelling and well done.

You know what movie I REALLY didn't like?
Transformers 2.

You are insane, Kara. I didn't think Transformers 2 was the best movie ever but it was great as a "Let's watch shit blow up and robots fight, and here's Megan Fox" level.

I hated The Passion of the Christ.

You clearly qualify for diminished responsibility sevey.

Dragon Wars, however was dire.

I don't think Saw ruined the flow. I know tons of people who liked at least the first one.

Dragon Wars... I don't know how many people have even SEEN it.
