Bears are still incredibly scary animals. Especially if she forgets the hat on that day.

I always look forward to more things from lrr and this is no exception. Still I have to say I'm not exactly sure of the joke. I'm supposing it is sort of a completely serious show with everything it is about being nonsensical, which is different from what I expected. I was thinking more A9 with constant staff screw-ups or Daily Show with a straight man playing off of tons of insane reporters (I was also kind of hoping for a Colbert-esque show with a over the top personality dominating the show from more sane people)
I think after a few more episodes this thing will hit it's stride as people who might be a bit confused (i.e. me) can get the premise. I did really like the guitar hero bit and the opening and ending conversation between Graham and Kathleen are awesome.

There's a show over here called "This Hour has 22 Minutes", which is a parody of news shows (intercut with some sketch comedy), where they keep up a pretense of being a serious news show (for the most part, despite having a studio audience) while reporting an a parody of a current news story. For example, when it was announced that the Canadian Forces would be getting new uniforms for Afghanistan (finally), 22 Minutes did a story on how the CF were getting bright orange and red uniforms. Just taking an existing story, twisting it, and then carrying it forward like it was a real news item.

That's what ENN is going from, taking real news stories, and presenting a mockery of them. Similar to the Onion, but with less satirical commentary, and more straight mockery.

Listening to an old podcast (Dated November 22 2006) paul says that it would be funny if all the wiis had cameras recording the dumb things americans are doing when playing wii. Then I see the ENN episode with that little skit which surpirsed me since it is like 3 year ago and ya still remember :D

Also off topic - Bento I love your Kawaii Che Guevra. I wish to hug it.

It's an idea Paul's had for some time, and I thought it would make for a perfect ENN story, so I wrote it up.

How hard is it to keep ENN and A9N separate? I figured you guys would have brought in Chip Musgrave (former meterologist) at some point along with other such in-references.

What would a gamer weather report look like I wonder?

"The current temperature is approximately 23.5 degrees Celcius - perfect shorts weather - in your parents basement. Though our prediction remains stable at 75% humidity, and little to no non-self-generated wind, we note a 60% chance of a Hot Pocket sometime this evening. Sunset; never, because you have forgotten what the sun looks like. Back to you, Graham!"

I've actually thought of a weather report, it'd be good. But we wouldn't want to use the same Action 9 characters, because then The Escapist gets the right to the intellectual property.
Not that they aren't awesome people, but... you know.

If the Escapist gets the IP rights to the characters that appear on ENN, and the LRR cast generally appear as themselves or at least use their real names, does the Escapist now own half the LRR cast?

So does that mean they have the IP on Graham and Kathleen? Or does it only count for fictional character names?

Seeing as contracts cannot overwrite the legal system, and laws set in place over identity theft (and I doubt that our Graham and Kathleen are the only Graham and Kathleen's in the world), the LRR crew does not give up the rights to themselves. Not to mention that, unless the LRR Crew is just generated by special effects, they're not Intellectual Property. They're People. PEEEEEEOOOOPPLEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

No, that's not how it works. They can't own us, because those are our real, actual names.

It's the same way that the WWE owns "Kane" but not "Steve Austin", because Kane's real name is Glenn Jacobs, but Steve Austin's name is actually Steve Austin.
