Saw Barton Fink. It's... interesting?

Also, John Goodman is freakin' terrifying.

Just watched G.I. Joe; The Rise of Cobra. Nobody told me it was a comedy! Seriously, though, if they had tried just a little harder it could have been the perfect parody of both 80's action movies and Star Wars.

It really felt as though the art director, costume designer, and set designers were subtly trying to inject parody into the movie, while the director (if not the actors - Channing Tatum aside) took it all very seriously. I mean, tailored camouflage combats for female soldiers? "Bad guy" technicians wearing all-but Star Trek Federation uniforms?

I will say I really enjoyed it, though, because it was so over-the-top. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is dead to me though.

I enjoyed GI Joe immensely for how ridiculous it was. My only problem with the film is that ice doesn't sink, so the whole climax of the film should have been a complete non-issue.

Aha! I said that too, and you'll note that there's a throwaway line Scarlet has regarding the "ice and steel" falling down on them. My assumption is that, in addition to the ripping-off-Bioshock-esqu-evil-under-the-ICE-CAP-UNDERWATER-LAIR (sorry), they had surface installations that added weight to the ice causing it to sink. If you look close you can see some as the ice comes down.

But then, why didn't it sink prior to being blown up... hmm.

there was not nearly enough structure on that ice to do anything other than flip it upside-down iceberg style.

Yeah, I don't know why I'm trying to defend it. Ice sinks post-explosion, whatever. Hardly the most ridiculous thing in the movie.

I know, that's why I find it so hilarious that THAT of all things is what ruined my suspension of disbelief.

Why did they need multimillion dollar "Accelerator Suits"? So they could be HALF as badass as Snake Eyes.

Saw "The Men who Stare at Goats" over the weekend. It was funny, and overall pretty good. Although, I think it ends up being partly forgettable, and is a one time movie.

Saw Live Free or Die Hard. Damn fun, loved it. (Strangely enough, it is also my first Die Hard movie.)

Saw Robin Williams : Weapons of Self Destruction. Fuckin' funny, nuff said.

Saw Lisa Lampenelli : Long Live the Queen. Wow. The whole time this special played I kept hearing a vacuum cleaner-ish sound. Come to find it was the absolute suck contained in Lisa's first HBO special. I'd say the Queen ain't got much longer to live unless Comedy Central comes back to rescue her from the depths of Carlos Mencia level suckitude.

Saw Christmas Vacation. Why does this get funnier every time I watch it?

Mike Epps : Under Rated... Never Faded & X-Rated

Meet unfunny Richard Pryor wannabe # 7562 a.k.a. Mike Epps.
Cussing and disgustingly descriptive vulgarity are only funny when used sparingly, not when they're used like the God-damned keyboard's space key.

Oh, and Black people vs. White people jokes stopped being funny years ago. It doesn't make you seem observant or insightful or even controversial, it makes you seem lazy and cheap on a Larry the Cable Guy level. Also, no matter how hard you may try, you are NOT going to summon the soul and skill of Richard Pryor on stage. He was funny, you are not.

Also it's just tacky to rhyme "Under Rated" with "X Rated." Come on, put some effort into your title.

In other news I watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang yesterday. A funny movie and a brilliant parody of film noir that gets marred by the extremely hammy and unnecessary plot twist and epilogue at the film's end. Le sigh.

Saw Valkerie for the second time on Friday.

The plot is a good one, though I think the end does get dragged out a fair bit. Some good acting in there as well, but maybe not from a certain Mr Cruise

I saw Inglourious Basterds on the plane. Quite a good movie in my opinion.

Saw The Road. Very good movie and viggo's performance was top notch, but damn is it a depressing film.
