Ditto, takes me days to think this sort of thing over.
A dose of perspective usually works.

Unfortunately the FDA has made it a prescription drug here.

I'm going to assume he was doing the same thing you were during engrish class.

FYI: cute girl from work said hi to me in the street today with a smile. We work in different departments and typically only pass each other silently in the halls.

Basically, good day.

Ooh! The Zhyhard plot's kinda slow at the moment, but this one looks like it could have some intrigue!

P.S. I'm happy for you really.

Great to hear Matt. She noticed you, that's a good thing.

On my part I doubt much will happen tomorrow. She has some appointment so I probably won't see her that much. *sad*

Zhy, don't act like you have so little going for you that not seeing this person for one day is devastating.

It's not devastating but I still miss her. Would you have preferred =( ? I just try not using smilies.

Edit: Devastated would probably be something like GOD WHY DO YOU TAKE HER AWAY FROM ME! MY LIFE IS NOTHING WITHOUT HER! If I start acting like that I want you to tell me. Then I would need serious help.

Finally, a chance to put my burgeoning psychoanalytic skills to the test!

Also, 'mopey' might have been a better choice of words.

The issue is, and I guess the reasdon we're all being so hard on you, is that we've all been exactly where you are now, and as much as it may not feel like it to you right now, you'll come to realize that you're putting way more importance on this than it acctually holds.

Now I totally realize that asking a teenager to reign in his emotions is as futile as asking him to stop a stampeding elephant, but need to realize that she's just a girl. They outnumber us men on this earth - chances are good that if this one falls through there will be more.

I know how intense your feelings are right now - but frankly, the manic/depressive pining from afar and basing your day to day mood on whether she's around or not isn't endearing, it's actually kinda pathetic.

That said - we've ALL done it.

We're being tough on you because everyone acts the way you are in their teens, and in their twenties realizes how silly it was to act that way.

You're too invested in this. Chill out, relax, and don't put too much pressure on yourself or the situation - if it works it works, if it doesn't well, there'll be another girl that catches your eye in a month or two.

-m

Edit: incidentally - the reason I 'm not concerned about getting all smiley and pleased with myself over getting a hello from the cute girl at work is that my investment level is low - I think she's cute, and I'd like to get to know her, but if nothing happens I'm really not worried about it - I won;t have lost anything if she ultimately says no.

Of course I'm pathetic. I'm an 18 year old who's never had a girlfriend. What do you expect. I've never even liked anyone like this before so it's all new to me.

Okay.
Being 18 without a girlfriend is NOT big deal. In more recent years it's been made out to be a big deal, but it's REALLY not. My friend Kathryn had never dated anyone or even been interested in the slightest in anyone until she was well into being 18 (incidentally, the first guy she ever REALLY liked she is now going out with). I have tons of friends that didn't start dating at all until they were 18, and some that still haven't ever.
It's not as uncommon as you might think, so don't get yourself all down over that fact. The opportunity comes at a different time and happens differently for everyone.

Please go back and read the part where I said "we've ALL done it". You're not pathetic, you're a teenager.

My point was that in 10 years you'll look back and wonder why you got so worked up over it all.

What? So just because everyone does it it's not pathetic? Just because it's the norm doesn't mean it's not silly.
