A lot of work for what I'm pretty sure is going to be "no".

Surprise yourself. You poured your heart and soul into this. She might just say yes.

The way I see it, you can spend your entire life wondering and never asking. Then the answer is ALWAYS no. Or you can ask and see. Then the answer MIGHT be yes. Now if you're a man of numbers, you can see what the better side is.

At any rate, do it for you, too, because it feels good to pour your heart into your heart. You shouldn't go through a huge amount of effort if it feels like a chore and is for someone you don't even have an established relationship with.

If it makes you feel good, then go ahead. I love working on stuff for people, not because they ask but because I care about them and get inspired. The deal is to be sure not to expect anything in return because you volunteered the art and it wouldn't be fair otherwise.

Hey everybody one last update on the chronicle that is my wonderful ex, Miss Yoshi_Gal.

Apparently a friend of mine who is still facebook friends with her informed me that she's in a new relationship with someone that started before we even broke up. Not even the same guy she cheated on me with.

I don't even feel that sad anymore about it ending, just even more betrayed. I can't believe I dodged that big of a bullet and I kind of understand why she has so many ex-boyfriends now. But yeah, that was a fun end to almost two years of my life.

Anyway huge thanks again for everyone who chimed in and helped me understand what was going on. I'll be on the forums a lot more and I'll probably post here when I need some help in the future. Thanks again everyone!

I finally told me mother about my plans to go to Melbourne later this year/early next year to see my girlfriend. I wish it hadn't taken me so long to finally work up the courage to do it. Yet another case where I focused on the minute possibility of a negative response, rather than the almost certain positive one. The only negativity I received was over the fact it took me so long to come forward with it.

You have echoed my sentiments, Lyinginbedmon. Sadly, a lot of my friends are getting engaged, married, or having kids this season. It's getting harder and harder to like my situation of forced celibacy. Originally, I was just tired of being mindfucked, so I did a self-exile from the dating pool, but lately, it looks less self- and more...well, everyone else doesn't want to.

Again, sounds very familiar. Sadly, my age tends to lessen my chances. I'm about to turn 33 in two days, and not being a barfly, where does one of my advanced numbers meet a nice, nerdy, non-cheating girl willing to play Magic and listen to either metal or dubstep while doing so?

...you know, besides Magical Christmasland.

Hang out with special interest groups. Meet people, online and offline, where those are the point of focus. It's a starting point.

Also, I'm seeing someone. After all that time spent on OkCupid, I met someone in real life without the aid of digital dating. She's out of the country right now, which is frustrating, but we're chatting and it's been going well. Here's hoping. She gets back the week after my birthday.

I've been going to a local shop here, and while I've met some people, one, they've mostly been guys, two, they've all been about a decade younger than me. Any girls I've seen there are dating other players, and anyone around my age are usually parents of other players, and are about a decade older than me. I think I'm just in an awkward period: too young or too old.

Thing is, Stockton isn't really set up for Magic. The only store here is on the complete opposite end of the city, and the ones in the next city. Well, one I've been to and I like, the other one is more set up for training Pro Tour players. Stockton doesn't have any local rock shows anymore, either. So...yeah.

This tends to be one of the reasons that, down through the ages, people who go to the same church/temple/other house of worship/religious gathering place end up getting married. Religious groups could be classified under "special interest." :D

That case I need to find a group of Christians who gather who are more interested in discussing Christian Philosophy and enjoy vigorously analyzing religious texts.
But I don't think Church is for me. I cannot stand tedious analogies in any context or location.
-
I've been finding it difficult to meet people in interest groups because I realise there are few people who I actually share interests with.
I might have a passive interest in Competitive Pokemonplay, but I don't enjoy the company of arse holes (ooh an insulting word for a person that isn't sexist #yesallwomen) who take a game too seriously (coming from the man who doesn't understand players who enjoy repeatedly dying in DotA2).

I just feel like there isn't anyone who shares the same interests as me at all. The only one who ever had misguided me for over a year and is now engaged. Or they're far too young and I am not going there until the ages is definitely not at all wrong.

I know love is about compromise. /wait

Perhaps my social group being a Plumbing course and a Church Christian group isn't the best.
