It is entirely possible that these are opportunities that should remain ungrabbed, and I am just over thinking it now, or they could not be. Damn it women are confusing.

A recent piece of advice I got: invest in a good cologne (As in a cologne that suits you, not necessarily a really expensive one). The results may surprise you.

And that's the news. Skeptics remain skeptical.

People in general are confusing. It all sort of ties together with the remarkable error in thinking that human beings can communicate.

Smell is very important! If someone smells good, it will go a LONG way.

Ok. My thinking is...

I'm not gonna act like I always smell great. But the goal for me is to smell like as little as possible. If I did find a scent I liked, I would always ONLY use it on a scrupulously clean body.

I don't even know what to look for in something like that. I've liked fragrances on WOMEN, but those are scents I like on someone else. My nose probably isn't hardwired to know what works that way.

Unrelated: my friend had that Kim Kardashian perfume, and I read the box, "Oh, Contains 75% Alcohol by Volume. Just like Kim Kardashian."

She was pissed.

Also unrelated: Do they still make Obsession? I don't think I could ever use that, because I think it would hit the part of my brain that used to read my dad's Swimsuit issues.

Good God, kids today are spoiled by the Internet.

I might invest in cologne now that I live on my own. I could not wear cologne while living with my parents due to the fact that if my mom goes into severe asthma that requires an emergency room visit. Cologne, perfume, certain body creams, certain cleaning products...

If you choose to wear cologne, or some other scent enhancing product...

Only wear enough to be shared in the arms of a lover. Or, to put it another way, cologne should be discovered, not announced.

If you walk into a room and I can smell you at anything more than an arms length you are either a douchebag or a teenager (or an adult who has not progressed beyond teenagerhood).

I know many men who enjoy having a variety of scents to wear, and match them with particular occasions, just as they do clothes. I personally have no use for it. The only person who I care about caring about my scent complements me on it regularly, and genuinely, and all I use is soap.

Oh, of course, but my mom's so sensitive that even just 2 little dabs on the neck during high school sent her into a reaction from across the room.

Oh yes, but deodorant/antiperspirant is fine. Please use it.

He actually means that he can smells it because he's in the same room as you.
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

I really, really like being able to smell people's actual smells. I dislike most perfumes (including deodorants, that is the ones that smell. Some have little to no smell) and many of them give me allergies. Honestly, I would probably take someone smelling like they've been covered in whiskey after being locked in a room full of tobacco smoke over someone wearing perfume. It just gives me headaches.

The way I see it, if you wear perfume, you need to wear little enough that nobody can tell, and at that point you might as well wear none at all. And if you're my partner, please wear nothing, otherwise it will hide your smell, which is the only thing I want to smell on you.
Obviously, be clean so that smell is good smell and not bad smell. But I hate that people seem to act like any body odor is negative body odor.

I detest deodorants that are mixed with colognes and "fragrances," they're aerosolised poison.

I usually just use Old Spice body wash and deodorant, but on occasion a small amount of cologne, if I'm going to something formal or want to feel more important :P

Although I can't for the life of me either smell it, or figure out why, but more than a few people over the years have commented on liking my natural smell.

For the record, it's a little odd and even disconcerting when people (even friends) make remarks like "mmm you smell good!". I haven't gotten used to that yet.

One girl once said I smelt of food.

I'm not sure if that was meant to be a good or a bad thing.

Did she specify what kind of food? It's a rather broad spectrum of odours.
Just call me Dylan. It's easier to pronounce.

She didn't specify, and she was hugging me at the time and kept on hugging me so I guess it wasn't too bad...I think. : /

Or an imperialist dog?

Although she's not a dog in any way. She's more a Panda if anything.

Well, it's just that your brain is so used to it that it edits it out. Work in a sewage plant, with skunks, or whatever, and eventually, you will stop noticing a scent, even if it's powerful or offensive. It's just the way your brain works. When it receives a constant input, after a while, your brain decides "That's normal" and edits it out of your conscious thinking. Only if your natural scent was taken away would you notice something, and you might notice it if/when it came back.
