Choosing an RSS reader

Postby Bruze&Badder » 26 Oct 2009, 08:29

Hey LRR forumites & crew,

Just looking for a descent RSS reader. It says somewhere that My Yahoo is the most commonly used, but mentions Bloglines and NewsGator. Does anyone have any other suggestions? And could you kindly include the reason(s) you would suggest said reader? Thanks in advance!!

i've used just about everything and they all seem to have little niggling problems, hog resources, or are just plain ugly. i gave up and use thunderbird for my e-mail and RSS now. it's basic and generally works okay, though every now and then it will stop updating entirely, and you'll need to restart it.

Google Reader. I pull it into my google.com/ig homepage, it's awesome.

I've used Thunderbird before, but now I just use Firefox's built-in thingy to see if something I read is updated and go there.

I live and die by goggle reader. Gone are the days of going to each individual site and reading a couple stories then moving on.

Apparently I'm the only one who hasn't moved up to Google Reader; I use RSSOwl at home, and Free RSS on my iPod Touch, but it's kind of annoying, because they don't sync.

So maybe I'll be moving to Google Reader soon? Does it sync mobile devices and home computer feeds?

FeedDemon here! Has always performed fine for my needs.

It syncs with Google these days, but I just like having a 'real' client rather than a web interface.

I don't need anything more than google reader gives me when I pull it into google IG. Unread stuff is there, read stuff isn't.
