Oooh, and another one. I finally got Heartbeats by The Knife the other day off iTunes, which I normally object to but did this time because I'm not a fan of the rest of their stuff. Basically, it's been on repeat since the purchase.
Damn, I love that song...

Close To The Edge - Yes (again). Been stuck in my head all day.
Down at the edge, round by the corner!
Not right away, not right away
Close to the edge, down by a river!
Not right away, not right away

Magnificent. Probably their best song, after Starship Trooper.

Re: Favourite Song(s) at the moment
After Graham song the Nations of the World song, it resurfaced very disturbing memories in my head.. So now I've heard and sung along to it several times today, much to the annoyance of those I were talking to on Skype.

You sir have good taste: that is a truly superb piece of music. *goes to listen to it now*
Personally I'm finding it very hard to stop listening to Somewhere Else, by Marillion. The last 2 minutes of this song blow me away every time I listen to them.

Re: Favourite Song(s) at the moment
Sadly, I can't find a live performance of this one: Buried Secrets by Painkiller.
Also, Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey by the Beatles, which would have been my request during Desert Bus if I'd submitted it in time.

Re: Favourite Song(s) at the moment
Lately (prior to bus) and today i have been listening to alot of Candlemass.
Nice doomy stuff with some really sinister sounding riffs. Messiah Marcolin's voice is rad. When i first heard them I was all 'LOL 80's gated reverb snare' but they seem to work
I guess some favourites:
Samarithan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWNS_cBNpeY
Bewitched: HILARIOUS video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3uvf0cn0jo
and 2005 Candlemass: Assasin of the light http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlOP6sOBzHQ
I wonder if anyone else here is into stuff like this.

You're Fired - Strike Anywhere
I actually saw them live back in March. I was front and center for the whole show.

I saw them play a show once in Chicago at a venue in Bucktown and it was one of the loudest concerts I've ever seen. I had to leave and come back with earplugs because I was getting dizzy and nauseous. I was sort of let down by the concert but it was fun to see those three guys in the flesh. (Although I had once seen Bill Laswell play with Herbie Hancock. it was the first time I'd ever seen John Zorn live, and I think it was the only time I saw Mick Harris.)
Now, 14 years later, I find myself living where they recorded all of that stuff and I walk by the new Knitting Factory space when I go to the train. It's sort of funny how so many of the most avante garde musicians of the 80's and 90's were apparently living in a neighborhood of oil refineries and Polish bakeries.
For me it's cold so I've been listening to this, bcause I find the Magnetic Fields to be a good accompaniment to baking.

A Favor House Atlantic - Coheed and Cambria
Strange Deja Vu - Dream Theater
