Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
Apparently there's a Desert Bus art thread somewhere, but I can't find it.
So.
I made this poster for distribution at a couple of our local workplaces, and if anyone else would like to distribute it, please feel free (but in no way obligated)! It's aimed more at people who are not gamers, people who would be unlikely to just take your word-of-mouth suggestion to "go to this cool site and check out this sweet upcoming video game marathon."
Desert Bus - WHOOHOOOOO!!! Spread the excitement!

Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
Fuzzyfreaker hammered out a bunch of Desert Bus 2009 posters for this thread here. Posters are available for all North American time zones.

Wow, those are way cool. I am now ashamed of my little poster - thanks so much.
No seriously, way awesome. And the more the better - more opportunities to alert more people to Desert bus. Thanks for the link to those.

Don't be ashamed! Your poster is very sharp & professional, & perfect for the workplace environment which you described.
Also, your poster lists both desertbus.COM & desertbus.ORG. I believe it's just .ORG, isn't it?

Shit shit shit. Um... whoops.
Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
At least it wasn't an error involving quotation marks. I hear some people kill for those mistakes.

I don't. I just automatically read misplaced quotation marks as sarcasm.

I did this one time but that chick totally deserved it. Completely different scenario is what I'm saying.
Nothing to see here.

Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
Heh; as Evil Jim says quote marks not surrounding a quotation are understood to mean sarcasm or similar; I love pointing out on a lot of internal memos/posters at work instances where people think using quotes denote *emphasis* (like,...oh, I dunno, asterisks, maybe).
Back on topic; the poster rocks! The others are nice, but as said, this one seems a little more professional (and has more white, so it's cheaper to print )
example wrote:...so everyone should be on their "best" behaviour when the auditors visit, and give them all the "help" they require.

Not quite a quotation mark, but the apostrophe goes after the s in Childrens'. Then again, children being plural already means it's a weird situation.
Oh god, I'm such a pedant

The image appears to have disappeared. I assume that means you're carrying out "routine maintenance," Tally?

Awesome! The more, the better. Yours looks a lot more official, and a lot less design student geekery. Very impressive stuff.
Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
So, uh, seeing as I live near Tucson now, I should probably start putting some of these up, huh?

Yep, it's truly terrible, Tally. I suggest you never try anything creative again.
Give yourself some credit, geez. Your poster is awesome and as EvilJim pointed out it's more office-friendly than FF's (with no offense to FF's posters, of course!). I'll be printing out a copy.

And thanks everyone for the compliments! The white space for easier printing was entirely deliberate - I'm glad it's appreciated!

Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
I'm going to start promoting DB next week at school, so I'll change the time and print the few. I wish there was more Desert Bus Shirts cause I can't wear the one I already have everyday lol
look a smiley face, it makes you want to smile doesn't it?
Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
If, say someone got some printed out on nice photo paper would anyone be tempted to buy signed ones for Desert Bus?

I take GREAT offense to that in fact. I'm never speaking to you again.

Was that all it took? I would've said that ages ago if it meant getting rid of you. If you'll pardon me, I need to go cancel that Amazon.com order for 146 live scorpions...

Does that mean you won't need that Uranium I have on hold for you either?

Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
Holy crap. I never had any idea how deep this conspiracy to kill me on the LRR forums goes...
I'm honored that you're at least taking the time to find such great deals on your tools of destruction though. Really says a lot about your character.

Re: Desert Bus poster for non-geeks
Now I'm trying to come up with a the imaginary diabolical plan that requires uranium, a tank and 146 live scorpions.

The pictures aren't working for me. Sorry. I'll be at the tech test in 30 minutes though.
