Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day

Postby DmitriW » 17 Nov 2009, 14:33

For discussion of this most illustrious of days. Do you plan to participate on December 8th? If so, what are your plans?

Full details can be found at this Wired.com GeekDad post. I'm going the Dystopian Future route, myself.

Anyone else in Chicagoland want to make an event of it?

Edited to add the actual date of the event to the post. I'm a dumbass.

- Walk up to random people and say "WHAT YEAR IS THIS?" and when they tell you, get quiet and then say "Then there’s still time!" and run off.

I totally want to do this. =D

The Dystopian is by far the best option.

I'm definitely up to do something in the Chicago area for this. I participated last year, and it was fantastic.

Sweeeet! Perhaps a few escaped future-prisoners, and some people to hunt us down?

After that whole forum debacle back in 04 (or was it 05), I'm not aloud to pretend to be from the future anymore.
~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

Pretend to be in a life on mars/ashes to ashes scenario. Be Alex and repeatedly say "Maybe this is my way out...."

Do I get to say:
"Correct me If I'm wrong gentlemen, but I would say we have been travailing through the Sea of Time"? (I've been watching Yellow Submarine, fantastic movie by the way)

A Tuesday? Shouldn't it either be "2nd Saturday of December" or have an Observed day? I've got work and it'll turn a few heads to go into work in football pads spray painted black. Alas, I'll be doing family things pretty much every weekend after Desert Bus (thank goodness!). I'd love to see pictures either from the past or this year (or next year, as the case may be with time travellers).

Appropriately timed to today's Dinosaur Comic:
Image
Alt text (spoiler):one ending had utahraptor saying "You know, there are parts of the world where folks don't have the free time and societal support to be able to sit around and wonder what other time period they'd rather be in." but man, what do you say to that? turns out you don't say anything, you just change the universe so that it was NEVER SAID.

Alright, I need to make an outfit that looks slightly futuristic without going overboard. Any ideas?

A few wires along the edges of your clothing/out sleeves, a stick of celery in your coat pocket, and a temporary barcode or circuit board drawn on your neck.

SO MUCH OF MY LIFE MAKES SENSE NOW!!!

Granted this may well be a non-annual holiday?
My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
I don't know if I'm tall enough to ride.

Is that a Doctor Who reference?
