Here lies _______ ______ _____
Best Before __/__/__
"Well, this sucks."
Or possibly just one word:
MELLIFLUOUSLY
Because it sounds nice, and will provide a talking point for visitors.
Re: Your Epitaph
I said "Hey ya'll, watch this"... Should have said "Hey ya'll, call 911."

"Greetings archaeologist. This artifact is not nearly as striking as you think it is. It's a piece of rock carved with a textual message. This sort of thing has been done to death. Go study chemical residue in some petrified tupperware or something. That's the neat stuff."

And after the stone has been weathered enough:
"Greetings archaeologist. This ####fact is (chunk missing) a ####### carved message ####### death study ######## petrified #######"
Archaeologist A: So, what do you think it means?
Archaeologist B: I believe that it details studies in death done by an ancient civilization.
Archaeologist A: What about the first part?
Archaeologist B: Likely this was placed somewhere that others were forbidden to go, so the people knew that only archaeologists would find it.
