Anybody get into Google wave yet?
Anybody get into Google wave yet?
A friend got me an invite and it seems like it could be cool if I'm getting the idea right.
Just curious if anyone has gotten in yet and if they've made any use of it?

I am not angry at you.
Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
Seems like some of the event coordination stuff could be pretty good, especially considering how crap facebook has been as of late, and how nobody I know actually uses twitter.

Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
I have it (jimbob959 at googlewave), I don't use it for anything though. I like having it and see how it would be useful, it just requires other people to help make it useful.

Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
Sadly they didn't give me any invites yet so I can't get anybody I know into it which would make it more useful.
Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
I have it and I have at least a dozen contacts, but I barely use it. Four of my friends and I were having a conversation for about a week or two, but that is pretty much it.

damn, i thought this was going to be a long overdue replacement for WLM. imagine an IM service that didn't glitch at least 3 times a day. sigh.
Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
I have it and haven't used it either.
I see how it could be awesome but not how I'll ever use it.

Think of it as a massive forum, but you only see the topics you're a part of, and have to search for or be invited into new ones.

Bad news: Wave is pretty buggy at this point.
I can't wait for a desktop app.
Also, I think a better comparison for Wave is a combination between email and instant messaging. It's not really very forum-like, except in that conversations are semi-permanent, which is a feature of email as well as forums, if you think about it.

I want a wave app for my Droid... but I haven't really used it for anything real. I can see the usefulness of it in for my various university clubs / group projects, but I need more people from those things to be in it before I can make a real judgment of the software.
Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
it's a bit weird but useful how you can reply to specific parts of a wave as well, sort of like quoting somebody on a forum but a bit more direct.

Wave is going to make it or fail miserably depending on if people find a need for it. It's awesome and all, but just like anything else it needs a killer app.
Communicating with someone in another language in near-realtime is great, but I'm not sure how often it would come about.. that's the story with most of the bots, so I'm holding my breath.

I have it too, but I've yet to use it for something other than annoy my friend who also has it...
I read somewhere that people are running D&D campaigns with it and that sounds like a good use for it.

We have about half of the corporation that owns Anime Evolution, and half of the executives that run the convention on Google Wave, and we're using it to coordinate events and plans for our next year. It's *REALLY* helpful, but unless you have a good chunk of people from your team or group online, it's not going to do much for you.
Also, they REALLY need to get phone integration set up.

Well google talk is In development now as well, it's America only right now, but from what I hear it's pretty cool.

I'm not running actual games on it, but I'm using it to supplement and coordinate some of them.

You mean Google Voice right?
Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
Ahh probably, I was looking through the service list and saw talk, but looking back it doesn't have the features I was thinking
Re: Anybody get into Google wave yet?
I'd like to play with it, but don't know anybody who's got it yet so I've got to wait for Google to mail out the next batch of invites...

I've only given away one of my invites if someone wants to invite someone I'll gladly use mine.
I'm still trying to figure out why someone didn't tell me how awesome Muse is.

I'd really like to have an invite and would invite more to it as much as I could to try it.
The D&D use for it is a good idea for people that want to and can't come play in person.
It seems like people that have it already don't have enough people they know on it to make use of it and are holding onto invites cause they have such a small number of them to give out. If everybody held onto their invites similarly it would probably be like not spending money in economic downward spiral and would drive it right back into the ground.
