Octopimp may have money, but Chemistring has skill. If anyone deserves to become a meme, it's her.

forkbomb added an extra $500 to Vaughn's $1500 for the Warriors, bringing the total for them up to $2000.

Story guy went for $620. What's the running total for chemistring's auctions so far?

Re: All hail the me! (WTF?!)
Holy crap! I have a discussion thread!
The adrenaline from last night wore off around lunchtime today, and now I'm just stunned. I keep hearing Graham's voice in my head saying "What is.....?! I don't even....?!". I think my brain is broken.
For anyone who thinks they can't contribute to desert bus because they're broke? Give time, not money, for the children. Sweet fancy Moses...
My running total for donated items is $5180 + $500 from forkbomb + whatever the kitchen towel set went for. I'm so glad the LRR plushies went to forum members, they deserve good homes. Vaughn, if I'd known you were going to win I would have kept the set here and saved the crew on shipping! Hope you like them as much in person!
For everyone who is wondering about commissions or if I have/will have an Etsy shop...sorry, but no. Crafting of various sorts is my hobby, and I do it for fun. Or don't do it, if I don't feel like it - don't have the choice if I make it a job. I am in for the craft along next year though (assuming there's a Desert Bus 4), so there will be more crafty things coming.
Thanks to everyone for the complements, I'm so glad you like the craft stuff. Big ups to illuviel for coming up with the idea!
Dale - Friesens represent, indeed. You're probably the first Friesen I've met that I really WANT to be related to somehow! I've got the science, you bring the evil laugh and we've got a shot at the big time...
Right, I'mma go wibble in the corner until my 15 minutes of internet fame passes and I can fade into the background again.

I don't suppose you'd work on commission for a few small items though? I know that there's at least a few forum members who really like your stuff but couldn't get in on the auctions.

Re: All hail the Chemistring!
The thing about crafting is that, from what I gather, it's really hard to make any sort of reasonable amount of money on it at all. Materials are expensive, projects are time consuming, and when you divide it out, the amount you'd have to charge for an item just to recoup minimum wage becomes obscene. If it weren't for the fact that people were bidding for the children, people would have a lot harder time spending hundreds of dollars for dolls or scarves or hats, items which take considerable materials and hours to make.
As a side project? Viable. As a method of earning any sort of income? Infeasible.
That said, I'm going to have to start practicing my Amigurumi skills... must... make... Canadaman plushie...
