As long as the person voicing Aku can come reasonably close to Mako's interpretation, there are few ways for this not to be awesome.

Wait... Aku... was voiced by Mako?! Uncle Iroh?! :O HOLY SHIT MY MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN.

I don't think I fully comprehended how amazing this series was when I first watched it, but in retrospect, it was startlingly different, and startlingly good.

It always bothered me that they didn't finish the story. I hate when that happens. I'm happy to see they're doing this, I think Abrams could do a good job of it.

Oh yes. Very cool. I'm glad he's not reviving the television series, though -- Abrams' shows have a tendency to lose themselves up their own asses.

Samurai Jack's plot really doesn't lend itself to movie form, though. It's all about him going to weird and different times/worls, which is why the episodic nature of a TV show worked for it. Wonder what they'll do in the movie.

I totally agree. Aku without Mako (or a perfect facsimile) would be like Santa with no clothes on. Still the same but . . . unsettling.

Yeah, I didn't know it was Mako that voiced Aku either. And I'm very happy to hear Jack will finally get a movie, and hopefully an ending.

As for a new voice actor for Aku... Frank Welker?

Unfortunately Star Wars: Clone Wars won't get the movie it deserved...

No, I don't think he had done animated. But I think Abrams is doing this because he's a fan, and as such, respects the original work. I am concerned about it being in 3D however...

Show Jack finally slicing Aku's face in half. That's what they'll do.

I can't remember the name of the episode but [Spoiler warning? There's a statute of limitation on these isn't there?] there is a time portal thing that shows a much older Jack eventually defeating the guardian and getting back... back to the past, Samurai Jack.. WATCHOUT!
