Looking for a DM

Postby Darknezz » 28 Nov 2009, 17:52

So, we got to talking about D&D in IRC earlier. I'm setting up to do a dungeon crawl to teach some people the basics. However, I'm a pretty bad DM, and this seemed like as good a place as any to look for one for future games.

So, does anyone want to DM a game for us, over the interwebs, from the comfort of your chair? We have a program that emulates a game table and PDF character sheets, and plenty of people that want to play. At this point, all we need is a DM and we could get an online D&D game running.

I'd be up for it as long as we're talking 3.5 here. The 4.0 system just makes me want to die.

I'd still like to, don't have a mic for any sort of talking though...which is why we founded this in chat and gametable lol >.>;

btw, would prolly be appropriate to move this to gaming section

Oh, nothing. Except everything.

I've been waiting on Snowfire, since he was gonna make the first game. I dunno where he disappeared to, though.

Don't you love that? I mean, I know less than nothing about DnD, but common sense would suggest that if it's indeed as brain-crushingly horrible as it's made out to be, anyone who was asked would be immediately able to prattle off thirty things wrong with it without even thinking about it.

Unless, of course, they were just saying it because everyone else was saying it and indeed had no idea what was so bad about it.

Hm.

So uh, if this is still going i'd like to join, I've always been interested in DnD and have never had the chance to play it mostly because of lack of manuals/dice/character sheets and enough friends to play with (It sucks to be live in mexico dawg)

And please be gentle <3

Uh, in case you hadn't noticed, that's a comedy sketch based on some people's complaints that 4th Edition was too simple. It doesn't really answer the question.

It seems to me that everyone who plays 4th Edition without intention to criticise it enjoys the experience, so I assume it's one of those "AAAAAAAAAAAAGHH! God! It's... it's DIFFERENT! Get it OFF me!" situations.

Most people's problems I think IMO stem from the fact that they are oversimplifying things without leaving much room for role playing or being creative in battles simply use this at-will attack on an enemy use your encounter power for the big bad of the encounter then use your daily for the Big bad evil guy of the dungeon essentially turning it into more of a game like WoW than a 'role playing' experience but even as a dedicated 3.5/Pathfinder player I got past the oh it's sooo simple and lame now period after listening to the Penny Arcade/PVP/Wil Wheaton podcast which showed that a 4th edition game is just as fun and as much a 'role playing' experience as any other system.

See, that's my thought on it. But that's from PLAYING it, I haven't listened to any of the podcasts. I don't take other people's opinions into account. Largely because they're wrong, and the experience itself is everything.

It's all about your DM, that's the end of the story.
