What? Newsies was released on DVD a decade ago... literally, 2002. I bought 2 fullscreen copies and one widescreen (you can see Spot in KONY this way).

So I share a lecture with a friend of mine who doesn't really pay attention (though he claims he can listen and talk to me at the same time, whereas I cannot)

He's always distracting me, probably because he has a short attention span or is just really kind of hyperactive.

After talking to me throughout class he starts poking me. I gently punch him back. He pokes me again. I punch him again. And, well...

Him: *prod*
Me: *poke*
Him: *prod*
Me: *poke*
Prof: LEAVE THE GIRL ALONE! ... Or at least go sit at the back!
Class: *about 250 bodies turn and stare at us*
Me: Yeah! Leave me alone!
Class: *stare*
Him: ... Well, now I'm embarassed.
Prof: I can't pay attention when...!

Later I went up to the prof to apologise...

Me: Just wanted to say I'm sorry ... for distracting you.
Prof: It's not your fault, it's his fault! I always see him doing that!
Me: Yeah, he won't leave me alone!
Prof: I can see that! You should kick his ass!

I love a good meeting (I know, I'm weird) and I just finished a fantastic meeting! I feel so pumped! Yay for someone finally completely understanding what I am trying to do.

Plus I just got an email from my friend in Kenya who hadn't replied for 6 weeks, saying he was ok. I was worried he had been hit by a matatu or something, but all it good.

And now I am curled up on the coach with a hot pad, a cup of tea and Coldplay coming from my speakers.

SO, I found a very awesome graduation/final internship assignment at a very awesome big international company making baggage and parcel handling systems. I'm very excited about this.

It's also a bit of a mixed emotions thing however. I have now committed to it, but there is a very slight snag. The company is in Veghel, which is 164 km from where I currently live (so it's too far from where I currently live to do as a daily commute). And I haven't found anywhere closer to live yet.

On the one hand I'm very excited, but on the other I'm scared somewhat shitless over the possibility of not finding anywhere to live and it all going pearshaped rather fast. And the kicker, I gotta start on the 6th of februari, so i have 3 weeks to get everything arranged, clean out my room, move and get set up.

I also see this as a bit of a personal victory. Only a few years ago I wouldn't even contemplate taking a gamble like this and just take the safe option (I found an assignment closer to home, but I liked it slightly less and it's for a smaller, less well known company) To me, it's an indication of finally growing some balls as it were.

Well, despite retiring a bit early, I managed to be marginally social this evening, and was even able to dance with a girl for a bit. On the downside, it required rather significant amounts of alcohol to overcome my social hangups and having-no-clue-what-I'm-doing-...ness. Yeah. Still, managed to go out, have some "normal" fun, and hopefully I've had enough water not to pay too much in the morning.

Also, dressing well does, in fact, bring positive comments about you.
