Re: The thread of win
A client gave me a hug, so I feel all warm and fuzzy now.
Re: The thread of win
Just finished the run of the play I was in. We played consistently to full or almost-full houses. We had a great time. And we got a rave review in the New York Times. I also got paid for it, which is awesome.
The latest news is that the writer and the director are talking to the 'New Vic' this week about possibly doing the show in a bigger venue. This would be awesome. Nothing is confirmed yet though, we don't know what's going to happen, but there is a strong feeling with everyone involved that the play will happen again in some way or another. We even got fan mail for the show!
It's just been a great old time, and it's been a great chance for me to use my musical chops in a theatrical context.

And that's the news. Skeptics remain skeptical.

It's official! I'm going back to college to get my pastry chef certificate. And we don't have to pay for child care because school starts when my Maternity leave runs out, and my other half can get parental leave for the run of my course. This is awesome!

I got my Order of Continuance signed, which means I can party on Halloween instead of having to wake up super early on Friday and having to put on a trial over child support!

Re: The thread of win
Today has held several unexpected wins for me, and has the potential to yield several more in the fullness of time.
In no particular order; I just had a conversation with my brother about menswear - something which I never would have expected to happen even a month ago, I've found that I've been paid by my new job a month earlier than I'd expected, I handed in a couple of assignments for my college course and one of the other students who'd judgement I trust was impressed with them where I had been worried, and finally we had a Chemistry exam today at college, and on reflection I don't believe I will turn out to have done terribly badly.

What? Are you sure they're not cleverly disguised pants, ready to reveal themselves at the worst moment? (But seriously, wow nice).
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

I love dresses with pockets! I have like 10 dresses with pockets. I've thought of sewing pockets into my other dresses, too.

Re: The thread of win
I had a pretty good evening shift at work; busy as fuck when I got in at 3pm, but we had plenty of people working, so we handled them just fine. I was in a chipper mood from getting out in the morning and finishing all our errands and paying bills and the like.
I rode that good vibe, humming holiday-related songs and working away the shift.
When that was over, I went up, changed, came down and picked up a couple of items we couldn't find (and got them quickly and with ease), called my father for a lift and turned on the mp3 player while I waited outside.
The second song was this.

All I know about my fiancée's wedding dress is that it has pockets and she's completely over the moon about this fact.

BECAUSE POCKETS ARE AWESOME. You get the functionality of being able to store things without dragging a ton of bags around (which you can't do in a wedding dress) and you still get to be PRETTY!
Additionally, I wanna see photos when you all get married. This dress sounds awesome.

If that is you, you look a LOT like Freddy Mercury.

I wish; it'd also mean I'm apparently in Berkley/SF, according to Fayili...
...though, there's a sci-fi con here out on 'the Back o' Beyond' every April. Hmmm...
Oh, and speaking of 'cosplay'...

Actually, as I was informed by my friend, it's not the BART Civic Center. So that was embarrassing. And then I looked it up, and it was the LA Metro Civic Center!

LA...SF; when looking at the globe, the magnitude of the error (400mi) is wholly acceptable!

Gravity was awesome, loved all the vertigo/claustrophobia/agoraphobia and the sequential shots are amazing, but it's getting a lot of mixed feelings around. Some people just can't stand Sandra Bullock.

Re: The thread of win
Gravity looked wonderful and did a really good job capturing what it is like to be in space. However it felt contrived to me and was dragging a bit by the last third of the movie.
We are all made of star dust. However we are also made of nuclear waste.
