The Jester wrote:Yeah, but you wouldn't want to use a bad or inexperienced musician's music for free, let alone pay for it.

An experienced musician, who's spent several hours a day for several years practicing playing their instrument, or instruments, and who has also practiced further for maybe a few hours a week with their band, is not equivalent to an intern in terms of experience. At all.

Right, interns certainly haven't gone through years of training and education and have, say, a degree in their field demonstrating their knowledge of the field in question. That has never happened.

Haddock would have been calling them Paltroons.

Not wanting to sound self promoting, but the business my friend and I run selling budget Magic the Gathering decks on eBay has been doing really well lately. Something like 200 dollars (gross) in sales over this weekend. Probably won't continue doing this well indefinitely, but still! Supper happy.

My art at the moment earns me about £3 a month.
I'm not sure if that's good or bad considering my career.

Yes, he's right. I get paid for most of the stuff I do now. Not necessarily a fortune, but I'm getting paid.

Been catching up on my backlog of tasks today. Two voice demos, lots of emails, calling people, moving in a sofa (that is too big for our apartment), editing music (nearly finished with the single, I hope).

Now to do some laundry... I am a domestic goddess.

Okay, so today I was to take care of incoming stock...and the truck was a little late, so when I took a call from a customer asking for a sandwich tray to be made for this evening, I accepted and went and made it myself. About a half-hour, after which the truck had arrived, and my day resumed as normal.

So the tray was to be picked up at 5:30pm or so, and I was off at 5.

I just got a call from work that the customer 'complained' that he couldn't serve this sandwich tray to his buddies - it was too nice.

Finally scheduled a meeting with my college's lawyer, even better, managed to get it on a day my other half isn't working! Huzzah!

Also, my step-mom is bringing me turkey/chicken soup tomorrow from another city tomorrow! All because I have a cold, and she wants to see the baby again.

Last night's WWE Raw was hilarious, in part because when you get British doing wrestling chants in the usual football style. Also SHIELD vs the Wyatt Family. Want to see.

This actually happened several days ago, but something reminded me of it so now I am feeling "win!" about it again.

Context: I work for an agency that covers shifts in the disability industry for other organizations. Residential care properties, day programs, respite shifts, that sort of thing.

Two different residential care properties (where I do 90% of my shifts) praised my work there in the same week, and both asked if I could work there permanently.

My buddy's depression cleared out a bit and we spent the afternoon playing couch co-op. I'm really happy for him!

In a day of mediocrity, mixed feelings and some out and out disappointment, I have finished mixing the single and b-side that I want to put out on Bandcamp next.

I'm getting some feedback from better audio engineers than me first, but I think I've done ok. Feels weird, since I started recording these songs over a year ago, to finally have them in a workable condition.

Yay, I'm saved. For the past 2 hours I've desperately been trying to open a Flash File from a potential employer with no success. I finally managed to get my hands on a newer trial version and now I can do the work. It's not a permanent fix, but it'll do for now.

My dad received a shout-out on the radio a little while ago, during a bit about an event happening at his school on the weekend. He was described as "not the principal, but essentially runs the place". :D Too bad he wasn't near a radio at the time to hear it.

Silly little thing, I know, but I am cheerful. Our apartment has a "no pets unless specifically approved" policy, and we were just approved to get the pet I want. So happy!
