Re: The thread of win
96 on my Dante final. Mostly thanks to my friends who were online the night before and helped me out by quizzing me on various quotes (I had to supply speaker, canto, and book. And then it turned out we only needed the speaker for the final, unlike all the quizzes!). Pretty sure I got all those questions 100% on the actual test, which means my essay part of it did pretty dang well, too. Got a B in the class, and considering my first essay and Midterm weren't that great, that's pretty sweet.

When the scumbags from Westboro Baptist Church showed up to protest at one of the funerals for a victim in Newtown (because they believe God is punishing Connecticut for legalizing gay marriage) this is what they ran into… Hundreds of Hells Angels, cops, and firemen that were there to make sure they couldn’t spew their hate. I LOVE this.

They've been disowned by the actual Baptist Church, as I understand it. They are entirely an organization onto themselves.

So you're saying that they are a rogue cell?
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

You know you probably should to question how far you have flown from reality when the hells angels are standing arm in arm with police to oppose you.
Next time the ACLU, the KKK, and the Rainbow Coalition are out with peta to protest the WBC.

Re: The thread of win
Checking my email, and I got a plain and simple 'Christmas Card' from Roberts Space Industries (Wing Commander/Freelancer's creator's newest venture).
I was expecting a 'how we've been doing over the year' which some relatives send IRL...which is NICE to catch up on people you've had almost no contact with, but I always like the basic 'happy holidays' of an unadonred card.
So imagine my delight when I got this.

Looks like I'll actually be able to go to Pax Prime this year
Re: The thread of win
I played Torchlight on my computer. Now the game's awesome, but the biggest win is that I played it.
I always assumed that I couldn't play PC games because of my sight (I'm legally blind), but I'm playin Torchlight fine. So yeah, that's actually a big win for me.

Re: The thread of win
I was playing Xcom: Enemy Unknown and just did something that I'm really surprised I managed to pull off.
The level is the alien base assult after the energy creature's capture. My first move of the turn was moving my sniper to take a position. This, of course, revealed three Cryssalids. They moved up till they were in a position where they would be able to get one of my squad the next turn (for those who don't know, those creatures can insta-kill, making the one they kill a powerful zombie the next turn, and your squads are dead for good once they die). They were also at a higher elevation... behind a wall. And I wouldn't be able to move enough to hit all but one of them and still be able to attack.
So pretty hopeless, right? Apparently not. I used my heavy, firing a fire rocket and managed to hit all three of them thanks to they being close together. That brought them all down to two life. I moved an assult member as far up as I could get and still attack, then used the pistol to hit the one I could aim at. I hoped it'd be enough to kill it. Nope. Just one damage... not enough.
I noticed I had an assult member who could aim at one of the enemies. And I had a sniper who hadn't moved yet. He wouldn't have been able to use the sniper, but he could still use the pistol... it was a long shot though. I used the assult member who could still move, activated run and gun (allows the unit to move fully and still shoot), and got him up close enough to kill off one of the aliens. I got an assult member with a rifle up the stairs and used him to kill off another alien. And then... the moment of truth. I moved the sniper, got out his pistol, and took the shot. And... then it hit the last alien and did the max damage (2). Just enough to kill it.
It might not be much, but man it felt really good to pull that off.

Finally decided it was time to get one of those fancy "flat screen TVs" all the kids are talking about. A 40 inch LCD TV will be showing up at my house in just over a week.

My brother had just got Forza 4 when we arrived for our Christmas visit. Turns out my wife likes racing games! So we'll have something to play together.

You and your girlfriend only have two thumbs between you? That's unfortunate.
Just call me Dylan. It's easier to pronounce.
