It's a call center. I guess this is their way of holding on to their staff. Usually they have super high turnover rates and high illness counts. This place makes sure to have Lysol wipes for the computers, a dishwasher, coffee and tea with mugs for staff and various incentives. Such as a TV for lowest cancelled jobs, gift cards randomly during the week etc. And a beer at your desk every other Friday. So far it is looking like a decent job. It's for O2E brands, the guys behind 1-800-GOT-JUNK? They have a couple other brands open across North America now.

Small win, I got an A+ in Advanced Steel Design. I hated that class. And though an A+ doesn't weight heavier than an A for GPA, it feels really good. Feels like I'm validated in choosing engineering.

This thread was getting dangerously close to page two. Buuuuuut, I had a job interview today! I'm going to be going back to school in September, so I applied for a staff writer position at the University's newspaper. I think it went pretty well, the people seemed nice and I was way less awkward than I could have been. Apparently I'll know what they decide by this weekend, so fingers crossed....

Hope it turns out well and you'll get the job :-)

Managed to get an A on one of the hardest practical exams of the year, now I just have to do better in the theoretical exam on the 2nd try (luckily it's a different Subject and not a combined one.)

Fingers crossed and mojo aimed in your direction, Jam!

Yesterday was a pretty profitable day in the taxi - usually I'll gross "a ton and gas" or a hundred dollars plus the cost of gas, maybe a little below or above.

But thanks to a little remembering when and where some high-paying booked jobs would be, and a LOT of luck being the next car on the appropriate stand, I had more like THREE tons and gas; after deducting expenses and splitting the net, I took home a hundred and seventy dollars. :)

(now watch; today I'll just be off my rhythm and miss all the good jobs and only pull in something like fifty bucks, and bring home less than a $20 bill. )

Thanks!

Good job, Empathy! That sounds like such a stressful job to me, not just in the work, but never knowing how much you'll make with any certainty. Glad it works out that well sometimes! :)

Yeah, the bulk of the job is FINE for me - I love to drive, I enjoy planning my way through traffic and across a byzantine network of overgrown cowpaths they call 'city planning' in this place ;), I like helping people...

...it's just the drop in the price of oil (which this region is depending on) slumped everything, and that trickles down into less work for cabbies around here. I'd gone from making payment agreements to FINALLY settle my student loans (which are probably older than many of the forumites here ;^P ), to wondering if I can pay to refill the gas tank of the cab at the end of the shift and figuring out how to break to the wife that we can't afford fresh produce this week. :(

It's been bouncing back, and we've been able to live off what I'm taking in, but recently?

DAYUM SON! 8)

Today was busy and profitable too; $250 gross as opposed to $350 yesterday. This increased business is making nostalgic for the 'good times' before the oil slump! :D

(crossing fingers to hope the streak keeps up)

6 minutes from the time I post this message will mark 7 years since I gave birth to my first son. I love him so very much and am glad every day that he came into my life.

Today, to celebrate his birthday, we took him to Medieval Times. It was pretty awesome. It started with him being grouchy and difficult. We were able to convince him to get knighted. After the show started he was completely into it. His excitement was amazing to watch. I love my son.

So, I did an audition stream for XBOX's UK GameMasters pilot program to stream games through my XONE. I got the position and will be doing some training soon. Not bad for my first stream.

I stream games on Twitch through my XONE as a UK representive for XBOX. I wasn't really told much. I was told I was offered the audition, did it, won, got the position.

So, it's a week later than originally planned, but the first part of my new series at PCGamesN about the history of computer games has now gone up: http://www.pcgamesn.com/most-important- ... vilization

(It's a pity that it didn't go up as originally planned - if it had, it would have inadvertently gone live on the same day as Cam's Civ 5 Talking Simulator.)

While playing Overwatch today in training to go against the US side of the XBOX GameMasters I found out one of the main reasons I was brought into the group; one of my opening lines for my Carmageddon videos. "Right, let's run over some disabled people." Quickly target the nearest mobility scooter user and crushes them under my treads.

Glad they like my humour.

Going to see Ninja Sex Party in concert with my husband tonight. A date night where we don't have to worry about being home before 10 so the babysitter can go home. YAY!!

Ooh, have fun with that! I'm a fan of Game Grumps (haven't heard all of NSP's songs, but I like the people behind it), I bet they'll be a ton of fun to see live.

Something I never contemplated I'd see ever. My name up on the XBOX ONE through its Community Calendar App.

Which one is you favorite? Maybe I saw her too (I'm at the Venice film festival, it's celebrities 24/7).

Who else, Sigourney Weaver.

If no one else has her as their number one I will fight you with a halibut on a bridge in Haliburton.

Sigourney is sadly absent. Good pick though :)
