That's great, congratulations! :D

I was out for a walk today and a random person came up to me and said I looked great.

Thanks! And, to make it better, we signed the final paperwork today. With the exception of something weird happening on the title search, the house is ours as of the closing date!

Succulents and I seem to get along somehow. I'm forgetful and negligent with watering, but they're quite forgiving. I've gone months without even thinking about them and they're still alive and okay and even flowering when I eventually remember they require moisture.

On that note, I acquired a new succulent, which is the only plant in my entire (shared) rental house. The others I've had have all been thrown away by my parents or repotted and kept by them whenever I moved home. Hoping I can do right by this one.

This time it's a paddle plant. I'm kind of oddly attached. I've named him Simon. I hope I don't overwater him but I'm just so excited.

I got a perfect score on my written test for the Ontario G1 (first level of 3 for a drivers license). On Friday we're driving to Montreal (about 5 hours), and I get to drive half of it. :D

Basically what I'm saying is be careful when you walk on the sidewalks in Toronto. :P

Got an offer for an apartment that is better than my current one, $100 cheaper a month, and in a much better location! It isn't 100% yet, but it is almost certain.

I also have a job.

Part-time cashier at a local supermarket.

Another part-time job I am trying to secure still are interested in me even though my shifts are erratic.

This is not really a personal win, but, the Sharks are 2-0 in first round of the playoffs! I'm very excited!

On a personal win, I got the email to schedule the phone call to hear the details of the formal offer for a super awesome internship for the summer, in a field/place that takes a lot of grads from my grad group as interns and full time once they finish. Super excited!

I accepted the offer! So I'll be living back in the bay area again this summer (far east bay though), and I'm so excited! It pays more in a month (pretax) than I earned in entire years tutoring math at a JC...

East Bay! Far east, though? Like... inland? Where it's too dry and flat and gross?

Far east like Livermore. Weh. Just as expensive to live as all the rest of it, though!

Okay, been having an aggrivating day, and someone linked me to a comic from The Oatmeal, which I really like, but kinda forgot about.

It cleared my mood, and then I fell down the rabbithole with "more comics"...

like "How to make your {online} shopping cart suck less"

and

"Autocorrect hates you"

...which linked to the epic "I'm Comic Sans, asshole" over on McSweeneys.

(and I know the 'argument' is years old, and I'd read it in those bygone days, but dayum if I didn't STILL enjoy the hell outta the monologue...and feel the need to share it. ;) )

Just a silly mild win, the cold I had left a sinus infection in it's place, and I'm high AF on real sudafed with pseudoephedrine. In like 3 hours I got more work done than all of last week, and I can breathe! Miracle drugs!

I got a 9/10 score on a test today at my uni! I know it doesn't sound like much but after being fired from my job and having decided to focus on getting my degree it does feel like a step in the right direction :)

Whenever I'm driving, generally either one of two things are playing - my "endless loop" CD of "Bonetrousle" from the Undertale soundtrack for shorter trips, or the local "classical music and maybe some jazz" radio station (TL;DR - it's inoffensive and easy to not pay attention to).

So I'm approaching work this morning, and the announcer's talking about the Tony Awards, and how a certain musical had set a record for most number of award nominations. The musical turns out to be Hamilton (naturally), but then, announcer guy says (in his best snobby, smug, upper-classy tone of voice) that to celebrate the success of the show, they'd be playing a song from it (the one with king George sending out the fleet or whatever, as if he and the colonies had just gone through a messy breakup).

So that was great to hear today, and not from a source I'd have really expected it from. It's not *quite* as good as the time they played the Indiana Jones Theme (seriously!) and I got to test how loud my speakers could go (also seriously!), but it was pretty close.

Not sure how I managed it, but somehow two days of hunkering down to learn were enough to get a passing grade on my math exam.

It's not the biggest win, but since I was sure that I'll have to retake it I'm still pretty happy about it.
